Good to see your training is going well.
Your trainee is making very nice progress, but then again, he is in good hands.

Been away for a while, actually was unable to log on at all. 3Speed called and asked where I had been and I explained to him that I had tried getting logged on, but I kept getting a network timeout error. This was happening at the Christian powerlifting forum too, both proboards, so I thought something was wrong with proboards. Come to find out it was my network, so I'm actually logging on with a different network for now, and it might be a while before I can get back on, at least until I can figure out what's wrong with my network at the house. (And at work, but cough cough let's not go there....)
The workouts have been going just fine, right on par with where they were last time I posted. Plan on upping the squat weight in 2 weeks to 445 for 3x3, upping the deadlift weight to 445 for 10 singles. And the bench, well, what's that? I keep hearing people talk about this "bench" thing but still for the life of me... but I digress....
:')
Will update further when I can get my computer issues straightened out.
God Bless.

After yet another new delay again....
First off, it doesn't affect my opinion of Paul or 100% RAW one bit if he popped for sleep apnea medicine. End of story.
Once again I've modified a routine to make it fit into my 30 minute time slot. This time it's a modified Hepburn, and I think I like it. Only have time for one phase, and if you look up the Hepburn you'll immediately figure out which phase that might be...
For as brief as possible, just the most recent squat, dead, and bench routines.
Squat: 465 for 5 singles, up from 455x8 singles last week. Bench: 295 for 5 singles, 3 paused, up from 285x8 paused last week. Dead: 455x8 singles, will move up to 465 x5 singles next week. This week I rest on Friday...
:')
God Bless.

Fellas, it looks like I'm done. Yesterday I was loading some plywood in my truck and tore my OTHER bicep tendon. I can't afford to keep having surgery every year, and go through rehab while I'm supposed to be getting ready for bow season... not to mention can't hold a fishing pole. So I guess that only leaves laying off the heavy lifting.
In the meantime I'm going to get with Paul about maybe becoming an official or something of the sort, just to stay involved with the sport and the fed.
Yall are like family.
God Bless. DP

Yikes, sorry to hear that. I was on the Worlds Strongman website the other day reading some of the there bio's, and its amazing to me how many of them have also suffered from this injury. Was there any warring signs either time you've done it, looking back that is. Good luck in your recovery.

Thanks, guys, for the prayers and well wishes.
Nosk, nope, no warning signs. It seems that a supinated grip opens one up for this type of injury, especially if the supinated arm is bent at the time the lift is started, and the lift is started suddenly. I tore the first one deadlifting. (Funny note: after the rehab the doc said "Your left one will be stronger than your right one now".... he's a prophet...) This one, I was lifting plywood with one hand over/one hand under, my right arm supinated. Go figure.
I went yesterday to have the MRI read. Yep definitely torn. Surgery scheduled for tomorrow noon. I've been given a prescrip for percoset, hope I don't need them. I'll keep yall posted.
I've taken the written part of the ref exam, working with Paul on when to get some seat time. Hope to maybe meet some of yall at some future meets.
God BLess.

Dopar66 - soon to have 2 bionic tendons. With both tendons stronger than before, you should be good for another 30, maybe 40, years. ;D ;D ;D
God speed on the healing process brother. I look forward to sharing the platform with you once again - even if it is in chairs.

Thanks, sir. Can't wait, especially with the developments on the State meet... cough cough...
I made it through the surgery fine, have a little more discomfort this time but certainly manageable. No offense but the percoset makes me NOT feel like talking much, so I'll catch yall soon.
God Bless.

Okay, the cast is off, recovery has begun, and I've been working the heck out of the 5 pound dumbell over the last week.
This surgery was different. The doc drilled and countersunk a hole in the bone where the tendon attaches. He did a basket weave up the tendon, with kevlar stitching. He took the loose ends of the kevlar, threaded it through a button-looking washer, then flipped the washer over and re-threaded the kevlar, making a double-double loop. Then he bolted the washer in place through the countersunk hole, and wedged it all in place with a bio-bolt. It's supposed to be a stronger than the previous surgery, and rehab isn't supposed to take as long.
My wife has informed me I'm officially done as a powerlifter. But I couldn't quite walk away from the sport. On June 12 I was blessed to complete training as a judge, at the National meet NC portion. So I hope to get to still have the opportunity to run into some old friends from here, and meet some new ones.
God BLess.

Okay, one month ago my mother in law had two valves replaced in her heart. My wife's been out of town pretty much the whole time, for obvious reasons. So this past Thursday I go to my follow up visit with the surgeon. He says "You're doing so well you can go back to lifting, just start light; and you don't need any more rehab or follow up appointments unless you tear it again."
So I get the green light to work out when my wife's out of town, my son's starting back in school, my school's starting back, and I have no way to make time to get to the gym. Oh the irony, I feel like a "Peanuts" cartoon punchline...
Next week I'll get back at it.
That's my update.
God Bless.

What a month it's been this week. And it's only Tuesday. Of course yesterday was Monday the 13th...
Recently: Squatting: working up to 315x5 and 365x2. Feels good but funny using only one hand to balance... I don't recommend one armed squatting...
Bench: yesterday did 95, 115, and 135 each for 15. Doing 95 for 3x15 on incline, and various tricep isolations plus light shoulder presses.
Curls: I have now officially arrived. Beware. I'm back up to the 10, read that again 10 pound dumbell! Last week I even did 1x15 with the 15 pound dumbell, enough to make little old ladies go ooh ahh...
So overall the recovery is going fine, I'm forcing myself to recover slowly in an attempt to thwart whatever else is waiting in the wings to tear/dislocate/rupture/explode/whatever.
So my workout partner and I were joking about becoming strongman competitors. He says "We can't do it, don't you have to have a name like Magnus Nesium or Magnus Noleum to do that?" I dang near gave myself a nose enema, laughing so hard. Thought I'd share with yall.
God Bless.

Howdy all. First off, safe travel and 3 whites to all going to the single lifts!
Second, I've had a question or two about how the training has been going. My reply has been "Define training..." But here's the lowdown.
Bench training: Back using the 225 Buckeye once a week and dumbell work/aux lifts the other bench day. Could go heavier on the bench but sticking with my bench partner at least for another month until I have confidence.
Squat training: Could probably squat 90% to 95% of what I was squatting in April, but don't want to put undue stress on that tendon any until I'm 100% confident. I'm hitting a few singles with 365-405 each week just to feel a little weight, but that's about as intense as I'm going for now.
Deadlift training: Last week I deadlifted the 20 pound dumbells for 4 sets of 10. Cough cough. You should have seen the looks on folks' faces when I dropped THOSE bad boys... oh yeah....
Back/bicep training: Last week was the first week I was to start back adding weight. So I went up to like 50 pounds for low and high pulls, 20 pound dumbells, etc. Whoo doggy....
So the training is, well, not actually "training" as much as it is exercising... no comment. No pink leg warmers yet, either, though, and that's always a good thing.
God Bless.
