In 35 minutes?!? Rather than "Dopar"...that sounds more like MOPAR ;D ...convinced there is some proscription in Leviticus somewhere against aerobics...

Mopar, I'm cool with that! I'll have to email Bud.... :')
I think you're right about Leviticus, let me check on that one! Thanks for the reminder! Again, :')
Today: Squatting deload thingamabob
Butt to floor, deadstop, paused, rock bottom with chains, henceforth known as "Sasquats" 315 4x3
Calf raises: 4x20 w/290
That was enough.
God Bless.

Sasquats! Man I almost had my Diet Coke coming out my nose. That's good stuff. They sound a bit hairy surely nothing to monkey around with.

Incredible #'s, Doug. What are your goals for the World's???

Thanks, Biglifter!
I'm saying this straight-faced serious, but my goals are always the same. Make weight, and make my openers.
I'll open around 440/280/475 and see how that goes. I'd love to break that 1300 total, but I'll be happy if I make weight and.....well.....you know what I'm fixing to say.......
God Bless.

Thanks, Biglifter! I'm saying this straight-faced serious, but my goals are always the same. Make weight, and make my openers. ### I hear that! I'll open around 440/280/475 and see how that goes. I'd love to break that 1300 total, but I'll be happy if I make weight and.....well.....you know what I'm fixing to say....... ### This is too perfect. If you want to have a friendly competition in the race to 1300, let me know (after the meet, of course). I checked with Vegas and they'll give you 3:1 odds ;D God Bless.

Doug, you will do just fine I am sure. Just save the buffet for *after* the successful weigh-in...or the unsuccessful one for that matter!

Dom, I don't do bench-only. I just don't have time to train for a bench meet and try to keep my squat and deadlift going. Someday I'm just going to the home gym thing so I can work out all the time at home. Wait....I'm never home.......poop......... BUT, I like going to the bench meets, and I like to offer Paul my assistance spotting and loading. That is FUN!
Thanks, BigLifter. I've reached that point where the gains come slower and slower, so the odds may change really soon. :') However, if you just want to wager a mountain dew or something, we'll talk. :')
TP, check on the buffet timing! Unfortunately the scales haven't been very friendly lately, and Thanksgiving is coming up.....may have to include cardio.........
Chancey, I like the way you think! I dream of 530/315/475, but my deadlift hasn't responded well since the August meet.....
Today's training: Well well well, deload week meets auxiliary deadlift day......Now I start singing "Oh Happy Day". Fortunately this is the internet and yall don't have to actually HEAR it.....
SLDLs standing on the bench, knuckles to shoestrings, worked up to 315x5 Romanians: worked up to 3x5 with 315.
Started singing "Oh Happy Day" and went to work!
God Bless.

Please watch your language. This is a polite forum. The "C" word? Really!!!!! The lack of couth that some people have.

Thanks, Rockman! I appreciate the encouragement!
3Speed, sometimes you gotta use tough language in a tough situation. :')
Today: bench day.
Listen carefully, I'm only going to say this once: I had another GOOD bench day!
Typical warmups 295, 5 singles, all long-paused, all went up really well 240x12
I feel pretty good about my bench right now. Only if the scales hadn't said 182 this morning....
God Bless.

"The "C" word? Really!!!!! The lack of couth that some people have." "3Speed, sometimes you gotta use tough language in a tough situation. :')" You guys just made me snarf my coffee...people are staring Doug, the bench is looking good...what is your best comp press? 315? Looks like you are on track to break new ground!

TP, thanks. Sorry about the coffee....that could be a safety hazard.....
Best comp to date: 310. Best since 2003: 305. go figure. Looking to go 280/315/what's left. Will have to see how the second attempt goes. :')
Thanks for the encouragement!
God Bless.

Awesome bench!! STRONG!! Based on the reps @ 240 and singles @ 295, the "/what's left" should be a lot.

Great benching Doug and nice blood flow to finish. Sure looking like 315 to me.

Nice lifting Doug, Very strong.
When I calculate my max from reps, for the bench, I usually figure like this:
weight lifted divided by ( 1 - (.025 * reps))
so .025 x 12 = .3
240 / .7 = 342
I'm not sure how accurate that is for a large number of reps, but for me, it's pretty good for reps of 10 and less.

Cool formula! My experience with formulas is they're great confidence boosters and work great.....for pretty much everyone ELSE! :') Last April I put up 285x8 t-n-g, and in June or July got a hefty 305..... I decided to hang up formulas except for a "rough estimate" kind of thing. I do GREATLY appreciate the confidence booster, though. You're going to make me pop my hat band.
:')
Also, thanks Chancey and Big.
God Bless.

Thanks, all, and I hope yall had as wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving as I did with my family!
Thought I was going to avoid the computer until Monday, but I got bored.... :')
