Thanks guys. While Eagles may Soar...Weasels don't get sucked into Jet Engines... ;D ;D ;D I like that. Too bad it won't fit on a personalized license plate! Well, tonight I teach 'til 10:00, and the alarm is already set for 4:42. (Two smacks on the snooze button to 5:00) Doesn't look good for tomorrow's workout either. I'll let yall know. God Bless all!

Today was that funny little supplemental bench workout I've been throwing in lately. I was very happy with the results!
The nasty 1/4 1/2 full press things: 205x3 for 3 sets
CGBP: 205x3 225x3 250x1 275x1 I hate to call that a PR. I've never tried any CG that heavy before. It went up pretty good, which is why I'm so content with today's workout.
Decline skullcrushers: 115x5
Ran out of time, only had about 30 minutes today......
God Bless.

Well I will call it a PR. Congrats. That's an excellent push. Your bench is looking good. Must be the influence of all these Bench Gurus we have on this board. Nasty sure sums up those press thingies.

Outstanding! How did you like the nasty 1/4 1/2 full press?
For whatever reason, they seem to really burn my triceps...that's a serious set of Close grips on the heel's of the Nasty-Press.
Do the decline skull-crushers work better than flat bench ones?

Strong work Doug. BTW, a pr is a pr any way you slice it.

Thanks, guys!
3Speed, I felt like the one being sliced......
TP: "Like" is a mighty strong word for those nasty 1/4 1/2 full press things..... maybe "tolerated" would be a better term. :') Yes, yes, YES they burnt the triceps! Whoo doggy I have found a new exercise for the arsenal! And I found the decline skullcrushers work better "for me" because they keep constant tension on the triceps. On the flat bench skullcrushers, my triceps don't feel a thing after locking out.
Today: the supplemental deadlift day.
Good mornings: Sets of 5 up to 365. Nasty.
Romanians: Sets of 5 up to 425. One or two notches worse than nasty.
The best part of my day was spotting my part time training partner Allen. He's 54, 170 soaking wet, and had rotator cuff surgery in April '05. Well, today he raw squatted 350x10. That was good to me! I've been grinning about that ever since.
God Bless!

Thanks, 3Speed and Randy. 3Speed, my students haven't complained yet about a good workout. :')
Randy, I like to say that I'm 150 pounds of twisted steel. Unfortunately, I weigh about 180...

Now, I want yall to read this closely.
I had a good day on the bench today.
Okay, I'll let that sink in a minute.
First things first: at 6:33, when the polls had just opened, my first set was to exercise my right to vote. I encourage yall to do the same, whether we are of the same political persuasion or not. I was number 7 to vote in my precinct.
On to the bench: typical warmup, then: 295 for 2 singles until I realized I had left the 5 pounders off the ends 305 for 3 singles, the last one with a 1-1/2 second pause.
My comp max is 310.
I was shouting Amen when that third one locked out!
God Bless.

Thanks, 3Speed. :') Dom, I kinda figured you were busy, that's cool. I'm just glad to see you're still around. Man that is awesome news about Mississippi and the USAPL meet! I hope to see you post a bunch of new PRs after the meet! On to today's workout: PA-Thetic deadlifts. I think the whole lack of sleep thing has just caught up with me since Wednesday.... Typical warmups. 455x3 455x1 Called it a day. Was hoping for a 3x5. All is good: de-load next week, come back with a vengeance. God Bless.
