Lol...Woody, I wondered if anyone was going to call me out on that. That was the first DL in a while so I took 'er easy. It feels good to be on a roll again, and like the motivation post, catching up again. Probably be ten to fifteen lb jumps in the squat and dead working numbers over the next few weeks, hope to be at last meet standards within a month.

06/17/14
Bench 135 x 5 225 x 5 320 for 3 x 5 370 x 3 315 x 5
The 320 for 5's seemed too easy. I wanted to try 370 for 5, but the prefatigue was too much. Rounded out with 315 to not derail whole day. No accessories.

Man, what an about face from 2nd job hrs being cut in half to now being 70 hrs/week. I know it sucks to work those kind of hours and it is incredibly difficult to talk your body into a training session. I'm glad to see you are still training and I really hope things ease up a little for you. I miss your analytical side of things around here.

Its crazy. Its a children's home for low level offenders. During the summer it ran fairly dry, but picks back up when school is in due to truancy, etc. Been grabbing workouts here and there, nothing on track. Once I get regulated I will post more frequently

Still alive. Have not trained consecutive days since early parts of this year. Went in tonight for reorientation. Hopefully I can start posting again regularly, more important training regularly. I'm eyeing the Police and Fire games in June, hoping to push and get on platform. Have worked every spare chance I have during the days I don't have my kids and continue to average the 72hr workweek. I double with a 2nd job almost every day I don't have them, which is my weekends from primary job. Keeping head above water, hopefully within a year I can resort back to just one!

Just shaking the dust off, here's where I was on my first days back....
Bench (last Thursday) 135 x 10 185 x 10 225 x 10 275 - reracked it. Felt way heavier than it used to....lol. 225 for 2 x 10 185 for 10
Bench (this Monday) 135 x 10 185 x 10 225 for 3 x 10 275 x 5 315 x 2 (paused) 185 x 15 Muscle memory at its finest on display...last week, 275 intimidated me. Next week hoping to 315 for 5, then hit a 375. From there, I'll figure I'm close enough to start a program attack.
Squat (last tuesday) 135 x 0 - Just getting into position bugged my right shoulder. I racked it, walked around wondering why the heck I let myself get like this, then charged over like it was 600....lol. Then.... 5 x 10 with 225 - Simply wanted form and the pump motion. Been a long time.
Squat (Today) 145 x 10 235 for 4 x 10 325 x 10 405 x 5 Same with bench, quantum leap over first day, hoping for a few more sets of 5 with 400plus and hitting a single at or near 500 next week.
Ok. With that, I'll await Friday...the peak of my delayed onset muscle soreness. Squat lovers who stop and start again know exactly what's coming for me. Sitting on the toilet, for example, will command more respect from my legs.

Just checking in. Nailed a paused 400 today. Used the buckeye basically from 350 to 420. Well on schedule to be mid 400s by the June meet. Haven't really dialed in the squat yet. Once squatting over 600, I'll be more apt to post. Hard finding time or remembering with everything going on.

Keep pushing George. That buckeye routine is always a good staple routine. Looking forward to seeing your posts and progress.

Nick I wanted to comment about seeing you back but was rushing. So, great seeing you back. My body weight is high, around 300, but will be 275 for meet. I haven't been consistent in a year. Working two jobs and decided to go back to school full time. Good thing is, I survive this year, and it all goes back to normal, or a new normal....lol. We have wifi at the firehouse now, which is where I moved my gym, so I can post a little better.

04-28-15
Bench (400 Buckeye) 260 x 8 290 x 6 320 x 4 360 x 3 370 x 2 380 x 1 400 x 1* 320 x 6
Lately I've become used to being a specialist, but the bench is responding nicely after the layoff. Now that I'm out of the unsure fog, I can post with a little more enthusiasm. Today the 380 felt good enough to stop on but when I ran downstairs to check the training schedule I found a spotter and gave it a run. I'll probably still just stick with the 410 before jumping to the 420 routine and maybeush the one set again this Friday.
As for my beloved squat, I still have not even broken the seal with a meet six weeks away. I'm thinking 2 to 3 weeks and I should have muscle memory having me back above 600. It's going to be fun going zero to 600....lol.
I might not even mess with the deadlift for this meet. If my squat gets above 600, like in the past, I should be good for a mid 500. The goal for this little comeback is 1600 at 275, which while not earth shattering is still a 50lb meet total pr. Then I need to eye a fall meet right away and push for 1700 by the end of the year. Feels good to be back, pretty sick of having no time and restarting.

I'm like that serial dating friend who disappears for a few weeks or months and leaves his friends hanging, then comes back when he gets dumped....only to repeat the cycle. I think it's here to stay now. The past few years have been pretty wild but it's coming to an end.

Recap....
Last week I was doing the buckeye and went rogue and nailed a smooth 405 and 315 for 8 afterwords. Bench is coming along good
Today.....the squat test Last week I did a squat primer, just working to a few singles with 400 to get the rust off my joints. Here's today's workout progression.....my first semi heavy attempt in a while....
145 x 5 255 x 5 345 x 5 400 x 3 450 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 525 x 1 550 x 1
All belts less, went better than I thought. Next workout may gun for six, but will settle for 575

Bench (Buckeye 410 hybrid) 135 x 8 225 x 8 275 x 8 315 x 5 335 x 4 365 x 3 380 x 2 405 x 1 315 x 6
Band DB Press for 1 burnout (20 reps with 50's and green band)
Really bounced around on the prescribed Buckeye because of lazy plate changing. (315 looks better than 300). Not too much deviation, it was the 410 routine, the 380 for two was prescribed but I was only supposed to get 390 for one. What I have learned about the buckeye as I have progressed is the 3 set is the hardest for me, yet the one set is easy. Hence a 15lb jump on the one....but barely getting the three set. regardless, regularly hitting above 400 is awesome, and I think I'm right where I left off somehow from my last meet in 2013. Now if I get 600 in the squat Friday, I'll be really amped up for the meet, especially since I was scared with so short an amount of time to prep I was going to go bench only.

05/29/2015
I can really say this is one of the best training days I think I have ever had. Everything clicked, felt great. I didn't want to leave but had to work and spent too much time in there already.
Squat Test 255 x 5 345 x 2 400 x 2 450 x 1 500 x 1 550 x 1 600 x 1 (belt added) 650 x 1 PR
Have no idea what happened, but the beltless lifts flew up. I called in a partner of mine to back spot me, and told him I have no idea what my max is, but 600 is the goal. After some debate, I jumped to it after 550 and it went faster than the beltless 550. Then it was another debate on weather to take 600 a few more times as a single, or try 620 (make smaller jumps). I opted for the Wildman route of taking on 650, and it again went up very smooth. I would say 675 was in the bag, but he had to go (we both work midnight tonight) and I was actually ok with leaving some on the platform. Next week, I want to go 675 and take 700 on.
No clue how I could be relatively untrained and hit a PR. Kind of transcends any reasoning I have. I'm just going with it. I will say my weight is much higher than before (I hit 625 when weighing 275, now I'm around 290-300 territory). I also for the first time ever used compression knee wraps. Regardless, I was really amped about this workout.
