06/04/2015
Bench (420 Buckeye with some extra) 275 x 8 315 x 6 335 x 4 370 x 3 390 x 2 410 x 1
No down set No accessories
Felt good. Added another ten pounds to the one set everything else pretty close. Noticed the 8 and 6 sets are getting very smooth and easy, everything kind of following suite.

Squat 255 x 5 345 x 3 435 x 2 475 x 1 525 x 1 575 x 1 615 x 1 650 x 1 675 x 1
No video, no attempt at 700. Still, another pr and felt good. The 675 felt good, most of trouble was stabilizing walk out and trying to get air before the descent.

Ok. Meet is 9 days away. I think I have done all I could do with only a little over a month to get it together. I'm not worrying about cutting at all, this is just a fun meet and would rather pr even if heavier. I'm skipping Monday and Tuesday to recover, going to hit heavy but not max any more Thursday and maybe Friday, probably an 80 percent sorta workout Monday. Rest and come Friday its go time. Based on my training here are my projected attempts....
600-650-675 400-410-420 500-540-570

Good luck George. Those are some very respectable numbers - especially for a slacker.

Lol. Thanks guys.
06/11/15 Deload mini meet sorta thing
Squat 255 x 5 345 x 3 435 x 2 485 x 1 525 x 1 575 x 1 615 x 1
Bench 135 x 10 275 x 8 315 x 4 365 x 2 385 x 2 405 x 1
Didn't want to try and push any higher, I think I hit my wall last week with the 675. Both the 615 and 405 were super easy, and are likely openers for next Friday. My deadlift I'm guessing is close to where it always is untrained, floating around mid to low 500's. Obviously I need to buckle down on that thing, its the only lift that hasn't climbed much, and low and behold its the only lift I ignore. Its not a matter of not liking it, more so I just always give the squat priority.
A guy videoed the 615 and 405, as soon as he figures out how to send it I'll post it. Monday or Tuesday I'll probably handle something light on squat and bench and see what happens Friday.

Meet Recap - 2015 Ohio Police and Fire Games - YSU
Squat 600 - white 650 - white 700 - white
Bench 400 - white 415 - white 425 - red
Deadlift 500 - white 540 - white 570 - white
1685 Total
Took gold in powerlifting, gold in Bench only, silver in ironman. Won best lifter for 220 and above.
I came about as close to what I prescribed doing above as possible. I was teetering on playing it safer in the squat with 675, but the legend Jack Daniels told me to suck it up and go for broke. What I have learned about the squat is that once I get to 600, no matter 650 or 700, it all seems to feel the same in the beginning during setup....lol. My bench took a slight hit from the squat shoulder beating. 380 in warmups felt a little heavier than usual. I wanted 420, but after the opener thought 410 was a waste of time to 420, but thought 420 was a gamble. So, 415...and it went. 425 floated midway for a while and needed grabbed. The deadlift was pure grind. Untrained and out of groove, I just went for broke.
Squat was a 70lb pr, bench 15lbs, deadlift 30lbs.
Im going to take a nap now!

Congratulations George! 700 is a huge milestone for a drug free unequipped lifter.
Now, about that deadlift.....

Sadly, i'm still finding my groove on the deadlift. I fit much more comfortable the way I did it. There is a video of the squat I posted to my facebook timeline for any of us who are facebook friends. www.facebook.com/george.shreve.9There is a monolift disclaimer....lol! But, I did hit a good 675 walk out a few weeks ago, so I'm still proud. I also wore knee sleeves for the first time.

7/2/15
First real bench workout since meet. I had one last Monday but turned it into a pump and go, things still felt a little tight/achy.
Bench 135 x 5 225 x 5 315 x 5 375 x 5
That was it, quick one. Goal is to get 385/390 next week, 400 for 5 the following and switch to triples for a couple weeks

George, you're a 275 right? I have a hard time remembering.
No matter what weight class though, it's always encouraging to see how quickly you're able to put things back where they belong (so to speak) after you've had things in life take you away from training for a while.
Very inspiring.

Thanks Ryan. And I'm a 275 at heart, but am teetering around 315 right now. I was always a weight cutter. I was 275 and cut to 242, then I hovered at 290 and would cut to 275. I've given up on the cutting, and want to make a conscious slow drop in my weight, if for anything health reasons. I do not have any adverse things going on, but really do not want it all catching up to me. I eat surprisingly clean, although my fast food moments happen on the run. I think the real culprit has been stress and sedentary work. Basically sit and observe kids at my part time job, then ride around for 8hrs. Don't get me wrong, every now and then things might get intense at the pd, but overall, its not moving much beyond the weight room that I think packs it on. And even eating clean, I still eat more than I should.

7/8/2015
Squat (first since meet) 255 x 5 345 x 5 435 x 2 525 x 2
Beltless, and heavy. Kinda figured stopping cold for two weeks was a little longer than I wanted. Today, I might squat again lol. I've had luck with that in the past. The funny part is I wanted to rep 600, yet 525 felt like a grinder.

George, I have had days where a lighter felt like a serious grinder but I pushed through it and actually had a very strong training session. Sometimes, your body will lie to you and you just have be mentally tough enough to believe in yourself and push forward. Aaaannnnd, then sometimes I have to remember that "He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day".
Either way, dunking 525 for a double is strong.

I ran. Switching gears anyway and getting back into some repping and powerbuilding. All I did for a month and a half was more or less heavy singles to trigger muscle memory and it worked well enough to pr (plus heavier). Time to get back into things and build a base to do it all over again. I don't think I'll be doing any fall or winter meets with final school semester, although there are a few spring Ohio events I'm eyeing up, enough time to do some serious damage if school doesn't bog me down.
7/15/15 - Bench
135 x 10 225 x 10 275 for 2 x 10 250 for 2 x 8 225 x 8
Band DB Press Curls
Was all over the place because the goal was 5 x 10 with 275. Stamina not quite there. I expect the same during the squat tomorrow, hoping for sets of ten with 400 but foresee similar toggling until conditioned.

Not that I'm a stranger to reintroducing myself.....I do have an update. Two weeks ago I graduated with degrees in 5-adult social studies and special education. This past year, I have worked full time mid nights, afternoons on weekends at a second job, and student taught full time for four 6week spans, Monday through Friday another 40hr a week. It's all over now. I've been battling school and work since 2008, had to take a few years off due to a shift change, etc.
But....in between that nightmare, in short time, I hit my al time best numbers. I might be putting the cart before the horse, but I'm ready to rip into a new prep phase and see what happens with longevity. Personally I think all the starting and stopping has kept me major injury free and the intensity when I'm applied very high. I took a couple weeks to get myself adjusted...a.k.a slept every chance I could. I kept saying I'll be back the Monday after school, but it took two weeks to face the music. I've gotten two very light workouts in, just repping 325 on the squat for a few sets of 5 and 275 on the bench for 3.
Today, I drove to the weight room, sore, simply to listen to music, visualize some things, looked over my equipment, called potential spotters to see what there schedules were like and wrote goals on the wall.
June police and fire meet is the best place to enter back.....but I may eye a good national or sanctioned meet for this summer, definitely this fall. Goals I wrote.... March 1st.....to last meet prs June 16th.....750-430-600 December.....800-450-650 I'm around 300lbs, would like to get to 285 training weight to drop to 275. The end goal for the year is that 800 squat and a 1900 total drug free at 275. I had more in the tank when I got 700 last June....felt like I cheated myself, the rest are only 20 or so prs with a year to work. Hopefully I'm under shooting. Who knows. Glad to be back, for the thirtieth time!

Well, if it ain't the ghost of Christmas past...
Much respect to you George. Most people would have bailed on that schedule a long time ago.
Welcome back brother. It's good to see you and I'm looking forward to seeing some big numbers out of you.

Thanks 3speed. I gained back an extra 40hrs a week not student teaching...I shouldn't have any excuses lol. I'm one of the first to get critical towards the "I don't have time crowd"...but 2015 was a little extreme for me. 2-3 days at times with no sleep. I didn't even entertain trying to lift.

12/28/15 Bench 350 buckeye 230 * 8 260 * 6 280 * 4 310 * 3 320 * 1 230 * 8
Took a guess, was a little off. 320 was to be a double. Slipped one set, lowered drop set to 230 from 280. First full routine try since June, I'll take it. Hope to get it clean Thursday. Once the movement feels smooth again I'll add in some more accesory.

12/30/2015 squat 145 * 5 255 * 5 345 * 3 435 * 1 455 * 1 475 * 1 500 * 2
First heaviesh session since June. Goal was 500 beltless. My daughter told me it looked like I was going to pass out after 475 so I made sure to double 500 and show her two fingers. She said that's the last time she's doubting me, and is reading this now. She looks angrily embarrassed. Said "WHATEVER"....ok....I'm done making her red.

1/5/16 Bench 350 buckeye modified 230 * 8 275 * 6 300 * 2 315 * 2 325 * 2 340 * 1
Gave and took, but overall much heavier than last week. Felt weak on third reps so stuck with doubles and raised the bar a bit weight wise. See how 360 goes Monday
