"Log updated with a full out frontal assault on the board presses" would be a little more accurate.....
Excellent benching!
(Hate those hammer lifts, they are too much like work.) :')
Nice workout big guy.
God Bless.

to tell you the truth, the hammer incline and the one arm db presses have made a huge difference in my bench. biggest thing the one arm is doing is really working on being more stable on the bench and it is forcing me to lock down myself more and is also really hitting my abs. have to really make an effort to push with my legs and tighten up everything when I am doing the one arm db's. have not done incline in a long time cause it just hurts, but the hammer is really helping without hurting. have a great day. chad

Understood! Truth be told, I really like Hammer equipment, for the exact reasons you stated. My thing is the less than desirable 40 minutes I get in the gym each day. Kinda limits which doo dads I get to play with each trip to the gym.....
Not hurting is a big plus in my book.
God Bless.

Log updated. had a good day. really did well on the 4 board work. the new arch bar we got from westside barbell really reduces stress on the wrists. if you can afford $150 for it, I would highly recommend it. yall have a good thursday. chad

ok, opinion time: got one more work week before meet week. I usually do shirt work on my fourth week of ME work, but since this is a raw meet, not sure if I should do the shirt or maybe a one board or no boards at all. did not want to work up to a max single now and peak before the meet. did a 2 board last week, so could do that again, but I like to change up each week. Ok, go with the opinions.........

100% pure unadulterated me speaking exactly what's on my mind.
I don't have a clue what your shirt workouts take out of you. However, I'd darn sure avoid any kind of ME day one week out from a meet. Save it up for the meet. 85% for a few singles maybe, but certainly not a true ME one to two weeks out.
Hope I'm hearing what you're saying about the time frame. Next week, work week, following week, rest then meet on Saturday?
God Bless.

Got an email from Matt Wenning at westside barbell suggesting using the shirt on my last real ME day on Sunday/Monday for 2 reasons: 1. will hit the triceps good on lockout and will since I have a national meet in April and am going for submaster WR, I need some shirt work, & 2. will allow me to feel real heavy wt. that will have some carryover to my raw bench. Now, my thoughts: have not felt over 400 in about 4 weeks. Although this is an important meet and my first as RAW state chairman, I am treating it as another training day to help me prepair for nationals and breaking the SUB world record. yall have a great Friday and weekend. chad

As for the toll that kind of weight takes on the body and CNS, I still defer to my previous post. However, and this is a big however, since you're viewing this as a tune-up meet for the Nats, I don't see the harm in it. You may learn more than you expect, this being that using the shirt 6-7 days out on an ME day will either help you or hurt you. Honestly, for a local level meet, either way it will be extremely valuable information.
have a great weekend.
God Bless.

I think I failed to mention that I am using the shirt this coming Sunday (11th) and the meet is not till two weeks from tomorrow (24th). The Sunday/Monday before the meet (19th) I will probably work up to my opener, 305 probably. I would not do shirt work 5-6 days before a meet. I still am trying to DOMINATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I still am trying to DOMINATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
Shoulda run spell checker, Vike. You spelled "going" wrong and the computer didn't catch it....
;')
That 13-day spread makes a LOT more sense. Man, go for it! At worst you'll learn something valuable for the Nats!
God Bless.

Thanks. was trying to use as thin a shirt as I had. probably won't use that shirt at nationals in April. will probably go with a double denim or katana. have not yet decided. I seem to get more pop out of my denim, so will probably go with that one. the katana is a great shirt, but have not had quite enough time to learn it right. yall have a good day. chad

Afternoon all. Well, time to vent! Went into our weightroom to check my weight and see how it was looking. Have not checked it since like Wed. of last week or so. was about 218 give or take. Anyway, was 225!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After getting up off the floor, tried to figure how I had gotten into this situation. thought back to the weekend and it hit me, MY MOM CAME INTO TOWN and BROUGHT JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so here I am with a HOT wife who has gone from a size 10 to a size 4 (and pushing a size 2) and then there is my fat butt pushing out my belly. Needless to say, I am PI*&ed off right now at myself. So..... starting today back to the diet I was kicking butt with this summer. The problem is darn school food. Is too easy to eat this stuff than get up and fix my own. no more lazy. bring my own from here on out. Anyway, sorry for venting, but accually feel better now. DE bench work tomorrow. later. chad

I empathize, brother! Three weeks ago I was 178. Yesterday I was 185. With my wife back in school and less trips to the local big-box food store, we were eating out 3-4 nights per week. I have a serious suggestion. Either start taking a fiber supplement, or add raw spinach in large quantities to your diet. Either way, you're getting nutrients your body needs, and, um, flushing out baggage calories. Also, add a quart or two of water each day.
God Bless.

log updated. pretty good day. speed bench went fine. had decent speed on all sets. the weight on the board work all felt kind of heavy. was still happy with the last set with 320. have not done that much with just a 1 board, but only got the first rep with no help. the 2nd and 3rd had to have a little tap to keep it going. but went real good. did fell old however when my 18yrold 308 popped an easy set of 3 with 345 on the 1 board!! He is lifting in the meet next week and will set the national record unofficially for his age and wt. class. Will take my opener (305) on Monday. I am SOOOOOO ready to explode next Sat.!!!!! chad

Well, I finished up my training today with my opener, 305. went great. not hard at all. only thing is I weighed after lunch and I was 226.2, over the 220 limit. Will just see what my weigh will be on Friday, will weigh in that night, and go with that. not going to try and kill myself cutting. will just eat healthy this week and see what it is Friday. Thanks for all the help the last few weeks. chad

That is weight after lunch in the middle of the day. I figure your real close. I like your approach. Eat smart and keep your body flushed and I think you will be there come weigh in.

Besides, it's better to come in to the meet strong than it is at weight. A guy named Ben Hooker came in to a meet a couple of years ago at 166. Ben ended up taking second in the 181s. Think about it...... God Bless.

Thanks guys. lifting will be the easy part, since I have to run the meet as well. I just hope everything goes well and all the lifters enjoy themselves. Only have about 10 entries including myself, so will be small but fun. Will keep yall updated as the week goes on. chad
