Bench 135x10 225x10 315x2 Katana On 405x2 (2 board) 495x1 (1 board) 535x1 (full range/right shoulder locked just before the left)
3 Board 565x1 575x1 585x1 (left shoulder continued to lockout after the right, felt unstable at the top, decided to do another exercise)
Close Grip Bench 315x2 315x2 335x2 355x2
Rehab & Out
It might be time to get away from the shirt. I realize I'm only 5 weeks from a meet but the shoulders are starting to wear down. I have been in the shirt for 9 weeks straight. I feel like I know the shirt well enough that I would not lose anything buy taking a break from it at this point.

11-10-07 ADFPF Meet Canton IL BW 242.5 Exactly
I used my loose 50F6 to allow me to keep my head down on my first two attempts. It worked well on both attempts. I was surprised I couldn't lock out the 2nd attempt. On my 3rd attempt I felt I had nothing to lose so I used the 48Katana and went for a meet PR. The 3rd attempt was red lighted by all three judges for lifting my head but I know the lift met UPA standards. All in all it was a well run meet and very strictly judged.
Attempts were 1st 474 Good 2nd 501 Couldn't Lock Out 3rd 578 ADFPF Bad/UPA Good 11 lb. PR
If I had locked out the 501 I might have gone for 600 on my third attempt but missing that 2nd attempt doesn't exactly instill confidence. I was happy with the 578 PR. Only 22 lbs. to go. I think I'll save that 600 attempt for my visit to the LOCK UP.

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3
Suspended Band Bench (Strong Bands) 50 2ply Katana On 405 495 585 655 705 None of these weights touched. 655 came within 6" of touching. 705 was not managable after the lift off so we racked it. The bands are a much better way to learn the shirt. They don't chop up the movement like boards.
Chain Push Ups 8 chains Removed 1 chain every 6 reps I got 50 out of 54 possible reps
Banded Lateral Raises 3x45 seconds
Overhead Pin Press 135x5 135x5 135x5
I have 7 more bench workouts before Carpenters meet. I need to come up with a way to incorporate the 2 ply into my workouts without completely neglecting my single ply. I am thinking of using the 2ply at the beginning of my next 3-4 wokouts doing maybe 4-5 reps to stretch the shirt, then switching to the 1ply to do some lighter full range. If there is no progress in the 2ply after 3-4 weeks I'll just do 1ply exclusively for the rest of this cycle. Either way 600 will fall at Carpenters meet.

12-7-07
Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3 2ply Katana On 405x1 (3 Board) 495x1 (2 Board) 495x0 (1 Board/dumped it) 495x0 (1 Board/dumped it) 495x0 (1 Board/dumped it) 495x1 (2 Board/got the 1st rep dumped the 2nd)
All of this took an hour and 20 minutes. I was disappointed that I could not reach the one board but I did stretch the shirt a great deal. I think if I had used more weight it might have brought the bar path back towards my chest rather than towards my stomach. I will try 545 off of the one board next week. Also I wore my belt as loosely as possible which let the shirt slide on my last set and probably caused me to dump the bar on that second rep. My experience with the 1 ply is definetly making learning the 2ply a quicker process.

12-14-07
Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3 2 Ply 50 Katana On 405x1 (4 Board) 495x1 (3 Board) 545x1 (2 Board) 545x1 (1 Board/Touched VERY low) 565x0 (Attempted full range, shirt locked up 3" from chest, locked it out)
Suspended Band Bench (Raw/Strong Bands) 315x3 405x3 455x3 465x3
Machine Tricep Ext. 90x10 100x10 100x11
Progress was made with a successful attempt off the one board. Next week I will adjust my warm up to keep me fresh for a full range attempt. I wore my belt a little tighter on the 565, this might have been why the shirt locked up. I think 565-585 would be an appropriate full range attempt with the belt worn loosely.
