Exactly! I was looking for confirmation, so thanks Randy!
I don't get to use them very often, and I've heard different opinions. So I do appreciate hearing that straight from yet another guy.
God Bless.

Still learning the set up for this new style of benching. Question for the lock up guys, on average how often do you go full range?
Thanks, Randy

Viking, Not really using militia set and rep schemes, but trying to copy their form of below sternum "belly benching".

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3 Katana On All 3 Board 405x2 495x2 585x0 (my left shoulder felt like there was nothing left to push with)
Raw Bench 225x20 (did this to see if my shoulder was really injured)
My shoulders just feel worn out. I'm debating on going light for the next few weeks and trying Waynes meet, or taking a week off and training for the Collinsville meet. Congrats to Roger Ryan on his 705 bench.

I think you're on to something. Admit it, you are not only a brute, but your workouts are brutal. Sometimes you just GOTTA rest! Spend you a couple of weeks around 50%, nice form, plenty of reps, and baptize yourself with ice and icy hot! If you can stomach it, aspirin to help with any residual inflammation. Plenty of Mountain Dew. (Sorry, just had to throw that in there....)
If you go to Wayne's meet, have a blast!
God Bless.

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x9
DB Bench 100x19
Floor Press 315x3 335x3 355x3
Not bad for taking a much needed week off. I won't be going to Wayne's meet (sorry Wayne ) I will start training for the WABDL meet in April.

315 x 9? ? Wow, Randy, that's CERTAINLY not bad for taking a week off! I haven't done 315 nine times since I started back powerlifting! Don't overtrain between now and April, I can hardly wait to see what you lift! God Bless.

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x10
DB Bench 135x10
Standing Shoulder Press 135x5 145x5 155x5
It's been four months since my last work out post. I have continued to work raw. I would like to continue with the "high rep" stuff (anything over a double) for at least one more month. I will probably go back to the shirt sometime in the next month or two.

Hey, Randy! Great to see you back on the forum!
The only thing I can say about that benching is "beaver colony".
MIGHTY fine! Your post kind of makes it overstating the obvious when you say you've continued to work on your raw bench......
God Bless!

135x10 225x10 315x5 335x3 355x2
DB Bench 135x5 135x5 135x5
Shoulder Pin Press 155x5 175x5 195x5
Tri Ext 120x5 120x5 130x5
I was going to use this workout to transition to 5's on bench. Unfortunetly we had to go to a different gym and the benches were terrible. I will continue with 5's next week hopefully things will go better (335x5). Laramie I will be down sometime in July to workout with John before he leaves. I'll pick up the shirt then.
Thanks, Randy

Nice numbers randy
The shirt (Katana)stuff is uninteresting to me, personally. I just can't bring myself to read into it. I understand why your mixing your training and commend it.
It is just a raw lifter forum and there is just so few places where this topic is not critisized.
Not meant to be disrespectfull, please understand that..

Hey, Randy! Great looking benching! I know what you mean about the benches. I train on the nasty ones and when I get to a good bench at a meet I don't know what to do.....
:')
Keep up the strong benching.
God Bless.

Bench 135x10 225x10 275x5 325x5 335x5 (What a difference a bench makes, thank you FORZA)
DB Bench 100x5 110x5 120x5 130x5
Seated DB Shoulder Press 50x6 50x6 50x6 50x6 (More for rehabing sore shoulders than building strength)
Machine Tricep Ext. 200x10 200x10 200x10 (Ever notice how much lighter machines are compared to free weight?)
Pretty good workout.
I have two questions for anyone.
1. Is there a direct correlation between lack of direct shoulder work and shoulder soreness? I am constantly fighting sore shoulders. I very rarely do direct shoulder work (other than the rehab exercises John taught me). I only bench once a week. I cycle sets, reps, and weight up and down and yet I still have very sore shoulders.
2. Is NO Explode creatine a good brand to use?
Thanks,
Randy

WOW what a bench day! Nice benching Randy!
Question 1: probably. Keep up the rehab/prehab by all means, but if your shoulders get sore from benching it may pay off to do some direct work on your second bench day.
Question 2: best I recall, NO Explode is creatine monohydrate, so it will cause some of the water retention. As far as energy and whatnot, I've never had any results from creatine, so for me it's money flushed. My wife swore by it, and lots of guys I talk to swear by it. So I'd say for the general population it's probably as good as any creatine supplement.
God Bless!

7-9-07
Bench 135x10 225x10 315x5 (Forgot to do 275x5, it helps with the later sets) 345x5
DB Bench 120x5 120+mini-bandx5 120+light-bandx5 (Working out at a different gym, they only have 120lb DB's)
DB Shoulder Press 60x5 60x5 60x5 60x5
Seated DB Tricep Ext. 75x5 75x5 75x5 + Burnout set with light band
Creatine + Protein = body weight back up to 242
Thanks for the comments Dopar. I am going to keep direct shoulder work with moderate weight in my routine. I think your right about the creatine being pretty much being the same. I have never taken creatine and protein at the same time. I'm hoping it can help me over the hump, 355x5 is the hump I'm talking about.
Thanks, Randy

Wow......355x5 gets me too.........on SQUATS!!!!
Look back at what 3Speed posted about the creatine, I think it's in the "supplements" thread thingamabob. He suggests EEC. Something like ethyl esther creatine. It's supposed to give the same benefit as the monohydrate without the bloating and cycling.
That was a mighty fine workout. Think I'll try skipping 275 too and see how it goes. Wait.... 275 is my working weight...... never mind......
:')
God Bless!

7-16-07
Bench 135x10 225x10 295x5 355x4 ( I'll try 360x5 next week for a new PR) 385x1 400x1
Smith Machine Floor Press 315x3 385x3 405x3 405x2 (Actually tougher than free weight)
DB Bench 120+lite bandx7 120+lite bandx5
Lateral Raises 20x10 20x10 20x10
Seated DB Tricep Ext. 65x5 65x5 65x5
Rehab & out
I have been chasing 360x5 for almost 5 years. I would get close then have to abandon the 5's to get ready for meets. I feel there needs to be measurable progress both shirted and unshirted. I have seven weeks to train for Bill's meet and once again I'm running out of time to reach this goal. Even though I have not met this raw goal I have continued ( all be it very slowly) to make gains in the shirt. I know most gear guys would say, who cares about raw numbers, but I still think if your stronger raw you will be stronger in the shirt.
Randy
p.s. Thanks for the kind words Dopar & Fatty

"355x4 ( I'll try 360x5 next week for a new PR) 385x1 400x1
Smith Machine Floor Press 315x3 385x3 405x3 405x2 (Actually tougher than free weight)"
THAT being said, 360x5 looks like it has a pretty good chance to go flying next week! I mean heck, after you pounded 355x4 you were NOT out of gas by any means! Warm up good then hit it fresh, I think you have a great shot at it!
Hey, don't worry about what "most" gear guys say, if you feel your raw work compliments your shirted work, then GIT R DONE! I personally don't know, but I can't argue with your logic.... just by looking at your results......
God Bless!

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3 360x4
Shirt On (48 F6) 405x2 (3 board) 495x1 (2 board) 550x1 (full range, it went up quick, left arm locked out just ahead of the right) 565x0 (came up quick half way, didn't flair elbows very well)
Raw 3 board press 365x3 385x3 405x3 425x3
Rehab and out
550 felt good for not being in the shirt for 10 months. I need to get to know the shirt again. Depending on how the shoulders feel I would like to get into the KATANA and see if I could get something to touch. It would be nice to wear just one shirt at this next meet. Thanks to Jeff, John, Nick, Neal and Roger for all the help.
Randy
