Man! 10/21 you're pushing 551. You decide to go "light", so today you only do 295 3x5, floor presses up to 365?
My hat is in my hand........
God Bless! And glad the shoulders feel better.

Bench 135x10 225x10 315x5 315x5 315x5
Floor Press 315x2 345x2 365x2 385x1

Off week, parent teacher conferences & our high school power lifting teams first full week of practice left me with practically no time to train and no regular training partners. The workout had to be adjusted to the situation. Next week will be back to normal. Looking forward to getting my Katana back soon from Ken Anderson.

315x5? You don't NEED a Katana, Katana needs YOU! I agree with TP, 385 floor presses afterwards? Man, you training to be a superhero?
God Bless.

Dang, Randy, you sure you need a shirt? "Ah, heck, I'll take it easy and only bench 335 for TWO sets of 5..." Dude you are STRONG! Man I can't wait until you DO post that 355x5!
Remarkable!
God Bless.

11-22-06 Bench 135x10 225x10 295x5 355x2 (I was hoping for 5 / strength and bdy wgt down today) 355x2 355x1 (5 reps the hard way) DB Bench 130x5 (Down from 10 last week) 4 Board Press 365x2 405x2 430x2 Not what I was hoping for on my last raw workout before getting back into the shirt. My bdy wgt is down 6 lbs., I have no idea why. I'll write it off as an off day. I'll eat my way back to 242 this weekend. The only good news is my Katana fits. I'll try Janne's bench workout next week. Happy Thanksgiving to all my iron friends, Randy

Dang. You post once a week now, you get 5 reps in with 355 raw, and you're disappointed. All I can say is.....
YOU ROCK!
That's mighty strong, Randy! Good training with the Katana!
God Bless.

11-29-06
Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3
Katana On (48) 405x2 (3 board) 495x2 (3 board) 585x1 (3 board) 585x1 (3 board) 495x1 (2 board) 495x1 (1 board) 495x0 (Full range/barely missed the chest but it went up quick)
Close grip bench 315x2 315x2 315x2 315x2 315x2
This was the first workout in the shirt since having the sleeves shortened. I wanted to push myself moderately with the weight and I wanted to see how close I could get to full range. Everything was very quick off the boards, spotters told me the full range attempt was less than inch from my chest. I feel as though the shirt is really squeezing my shoulders together. I'm going to wear it a few more times to stretch it out. If it hasn't loosened up in a few weeks I might look at letting the chest out an inch. This was also the first time using the bench I purchased from the U of I power team, it's great, my powerlifting kids love it.

Randy, Randy, Randy.... there is NOTHING moderate about a 495 attempt! DUDE you picked the right shirt! Work out the touching issues and I can only imagine what you'll get!
I'd say try this before you get another shirt mod. In your posts, I don't know if you just skip the other workouts or don't do them, so I'm assuming your only workouts are the ones you post. But do you some insane killer low pulls of some type, with the bar mimicking your bench groove. Then do some ridiculously nasty face pulls, and some type of pulldown/pullup type workout. This ought to give you enough lat/delt/rhomboid/trap training to be able and squeeze the bar down that last inch. PLEASE keep in mind I'm not a shirt bencher!
You are one strong dude! Keep up the incredible work.
(And let us know next time your team has a meet!)
God Bless.

Thanks for the kind words Doug. I do a back and bicep workout every week but I am so limited by my back it ends up being the same four or five exercises every week ,very boring.
Lat pull downs (front & rear) DB one arm rows DB shrugs Bicep curls
All 4-5 sets of 5-10
I have tried rack pulls, low rows among others and I always end up walking funny the next few days. It just isn't worth it. Again it also makes for some very monotonous posts. I am to the point now that I am averaging two cortisone shots a year and a lot of chiropractic visits. You are right about training the stabilizer muscles and I would be willing to try any back exercise that I could do in a seated or prone position.
Thanks again, Randy

With the variety of machines out there you would think something would be of help. Of course we are all limited to what we have at our disposal. Your workouts may be boring but they are impressive.

12-06-06 Bench 135x10 225x10 315x2
Katana On 405x1 (3 board) 495x1 (3 board) 515x1 (2 board) 525x1 (1 board) 495x0 (full range) (I dropped back down to 495 because I wanted to touch with the lightest weight possible/missed by 1" again/ this time the shirt felt like it locked up, spotters took it) 590x1 (3 board) (made an attempt to salvage the workout by trying to beat last weeks 3 board) 600x0 (3 board) (right arm locked, left arm did not)
Close grip bench 325x2 325x2 325x2 325x2 325x2
As much as I would like to follow Jannes workout I'm not sure my shoulders can stand the shirt two weeks in a row. Shoulders felt very sore today. I'll try to stick with it a few more weeks unless I start to go backwards. I couldn't get the digital camera today so I have no video to send the Lock Up guys, sorry.

I can't even imagine what 600lbs must feel like hovering over your chest. Very nice close grips to finish.

12-14-06 Bench 135x10 225x10 315x5 365x1 375x1 385x1 400x1
3 Board Press 405x2 425x2 450x1 (Raw PR)
DB floor press 100x15
Good to get out of the shirt for a week. I like the two weeks in and one week out routine. I have to give credit to Roger, he reminded me of something I had forgotten lately, "you have to believe your going to make your attempts", that advise made all the difference in my workout today. It also reminded me that the mental aspect of this sport must be maintained along with the physical.
Thanks Roger,
Randy

Roger spoke wisdom!
Man, to set a 3-bd PR right after a 400# bench is pretty doggone good and phenomenal! NICE work Randy! Not to say your previous 3 attempts were pretty much 10 pound increments..... kinda spooky...... like hovering over your chest with 600#......
:')
Hopefully your shoulders will like the 2 on / 1 off routine too!
God Bless.

12-20-06 135x10 225x10 315x2 Katana On 405x1(3 board) 495x1(2 board) 545x0(stopped 1" before the chest) 565x0(came down in the groove until the last inch then went towards feet and landed somewhere on the stomach) 575x0(made it all the way down in the groove, but it was so slow I had nothing left to push with, spotters said it only came off the chest 1")
DB Floor Press 130x10
Tricep Ext. (I only did this because I ran out of spotters) 70x10 70x10 70x10
Bicep Curl 45xFailure 45xFailure
Finding a weight that would let me touch my chest was the priority today. I was not worried about getting the weight back up, 575 seems to be that weight. This is 45 lbs. better than my best full range in the F6. The question now is how to bridge the gap. I will go raw next week so that I can be fresh when I go to the Lock-Up the following week. I think maybe starting with 3 boards and working my way down to one boards for a while would continue to stretch the shirt, allow me to continue to learn the groove of the shirt in small increments, and slowly get me used to handling 545-585 range weights. I would really appreciate feedback at this point on my thinking. Sometimes I wonder if the shirt is too tight. Janne, your right, next week I will be conservative with my core benching in order to stay fresh for the shirt.

I probably shouldn't answer this, since it's not from personal experience.
However, the guy I lift with put up some pretty good numbers. Dave has a Katana that he got recently, and he is doing just what you suggested. He is gradually working lower and lower boards.
He also found this week that he could bring the bar down further by raising his head as the bar got closer to his chest. liftinglarge.com has a series of pictures about how to put on Titan shirts that has some advice about how to seat the shirt to give it more or less support. You may want to check that out.
For instance, pulling up the back of the neck while pulling down the front will giver more support. So I would say that not pulling it down so far in the front may give a little less support. They also talk about pulling the sleeves toward the elbows to get more out of the shirt, which would need to be done before the body of the shirt is seated.
Dave also does incredible rack lock-outs.
Good luck with the shirt. I hope you don't mind a few words from someone who can only lift your warm-up weight. lol
Have a Blessed Christmas.

12-27-06 Bench 135x10 225x10 315x3 Katana On 385x3 (3 board/no belt) 405x3 (2 board/with belt) 425x0 (1 board/would not touch) 455x3 (1 board/felt light and quick)
Close Grip 315x2 335x2 355x2 365x2
Good workout. I felt like I did a good job of keeping my elbows tucked on the way down and flairing them out on the way up. The lighter weight made it easier to concentrate on form rather than focusing solely on pressing the weight. I will be at the lock up next Tuesday at 4pm. Looking forward to getting some advice from the experts.

Wow, Randy, that is one respectable set of working sets! And then the 6x3 on the floor presses! No wonder you have such a great bench, that is VOLUME!!!!!
When you do floor presses, do you let your elbows touch the floor?
Thanks, and God Bless.

Doug, During floor presses I let the back of my tricep touch the floor. My elbow is probably an inch or two off the ground. I have found if you let the elbow touch the ground you tend to lose some amount of tightness.

Good info on the floor presses. I just started doing them and found the same thing to be true. So, that coming from you makes me feel better about my form.
