POOP! MAN I hate to hear that! Is it torn through or a partial?
You'll certainly be in my prayers little buddy! (Sorry, couldn't resist......)
By the way, congrats on the 530!
God Bless.

Here lays an important lesson, when I was lifting, years ago, equpped, I could push and push and push no injuries. The shirts saved my shoulders etc. RAW it is all you baby. this would have been my first meet in quite awhile, I was anxious and ready for war--I always said my biggest competition stares at my ugly mug in the mirror every morning. He got the better of me--this time. I need to train smarter, I need to listen to my body better and I need to rememeber I am not bulletproof( I still think I am but it was a lucky bullet that got me).
It is a partial tear, alot ALOT of fluid, no range of motion tiger stripped bruising thruought lat and shoulder. Minimal pain more dumb pride that is hurt.
Dammit! I am strong but I never once said I was smart. I guess you need both--my bad and lesson learned. i was weighing 272lb when I hit the 530. i guess I am happy to have done that. But I will be back, out of the gym a week or 2 or at least till I can move the shoulder better.
Thank you Doug, always a pleasure and always a gentelman.

Sorry to hear of the injury. I hope and pray you recover quickly. I know how disapointing it is to get hurt. Chalk it up to experiance, I know you will come back more strong than before.

A bummer for sure. Your log was popcorn grabber - very entertaining. With your tenacity I know you will be back.

I learned a valuable lesson from my Dad. He told me these words of wisdom: "Do whatever the doctor tells you to do."
My part-time partner was 52 when he had his rotator cuff rebuilt. He did exactly what the docs told him. In 1 year he was at 95% of his all-time PR on the bench.
Speedy recovery, and don't be a stranger!
God Bless.

Fatty,
Sorry to hear about the injury. 530 is incredible! You don't sound like the kind of guy that would let it stop you for long. Be smart about your recovery. I think most of us have had to deal injury at one time or another.
Good Luck,
Randy
p.s. Please post your recovery, I would be interested in seeing your progress.

Okay I am slowly working back in. Swelling is minimal and alot more discomfort then anything. My ROM is slowly improving.
I am attempting to kinda do a deload, as you guys call it..
Did chest on Monday
Much stronger then this but playing it out and seing what happens, hopefully I can use this R&R and come back a beast.
Flat raw bench 5 sets of 5 reps with 405, no liftoffs nor a spotter all reps paused. Dumb light but maybe this will help heal stuff up.
Pec deck half stack(blah) not counting reps but going after the stretch and contraction-several sets
That is it for chest, weight is down 270lbs, I look like a bean pole-- where is my muscle milk?
Did Back and bi's yesterday
Went well, I have dropped the weights down, biceps are aching for more weight, hate doing DB curls with anything under 70lbs
Hopefully a couple weeks of this "stuff" aka crap will get me thru and back to training hard.
Thanks for all your support

IFG, better known as Fatty, you are wise to ignore that ripping tearing desire to go heavy. It's bound to be hard to MAKE yourself go light, but a wise man once said it's better to be a live chicken than a dead eagle.
By the way, you can still have muscle milk when you go light. Thats rule 585, article 16.25-A paragraph C-3.
:')
Take the utmost care of the tear so you'll be back sooner than the docs thought, hungrier than a bear, and stronger than a gorilla!
God Bless!

Got 3 days in last week and plan to do the same this week. Weight 268lbs
Flat raw bench
Blah deloading 5 sets of 7 with 405lbs
Incline bench
3x10 315 and 1 set of 6 with 365
Incline DB fly off of ball 90x12-- 3 sets
I plan on training hard next week, that will be 3 weeks of rest my rear delt got and that is all I plan on giving it. This BS needs to heal but good news i will be in Florida Friday and sat hunting alligators on the St. Johns River. That should be alot more fun then sitting on my butt and whinning about a friggin' injury..
Peace

Nice gator! THAT is intense!
Nice benching, that's pretty intense too!
Man I am GLAD to hear that rear delt is still hanging in there. 'Specially if it was a bow you were using for gator hunting. Whoo doggy couldn't that have been disastrous.....
:')
Speaking of which, bow season comes in next Saturday here in eastern NC...... ;')
God Bless!
