Rick, I have slightly widened my stance for these, about 1" out for the pauses, and I slightly point my toes out a little more, then drive up through my toes. This is only for the pauses! On my deload week I paused for 3-5 seconds depending on which set I was on. :')
God Bless.

And a thank you to you, kind sir!
Okay, I'm posting this week's log today since our school will shut down Friday, and unfortunately, be closed all week next week. Poo. :')
Monday: bench typical warmup 290x4x2 comp pauses, 2-1/2 comp paused (my spotter gave me a few pounds through the sticking point)
Today: squat typical warmup 425x2x2, 425x4 PRAISE THE LORD! I got under the third set and said my little prayer, repeated my scriptures I like to say. I was planning on seeing how the first two went and consider a third. After the third one, I heard that one scripture again "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord." I figured that was a clue to have a little faith, so I went for the fourth. My spotter said they were all deep enough. He said "if your hindparts are on the floor is deep enough...." So I said "your hindparts have to break the plane of the floor....."
:')
Friday: deadlifts I'm going for either 455x5 or 6 singles, or 475x5 or 6 singles, depending on how the warmups go. I'll hold the last one for 15-20 seconds via my good friend Chancey.
God Bless!

Excellent work. Wow. 425 x 4 on the squat! You rock! You resemble a 500 pound squatter.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.
Chancey, the 500 will get there. First I have to get that 475 monkey off my back. I've done it in the gym, but that and a quarter won't even get a cup of coffee any more.
God Bless!

Crazy awesome, Doug. I'd sell my house (but not the gym part) to have you as a squat partner up here. 3x bodyweight on squat is a huge goal for me. ADAU American record is a 518 and 495 with another notch tighter on the belt might make it happen someday . How often (referring to times/wk or month) do you add the bottom pauses?? I'd like to put these in but am not sure what additional recovery they would demand.

You worry about the 500 and I will buy you the coffee. I'll even throw in a Mt Dew.

Friday: deadlifted. Hit 455x1, it went up smoothly. Added the dime and hit the last 5 with 475. Held the last rep for 30 seconds...... OUCH!!! In ALL things give thanks!
THis morning had to push the bench kinda fast. Had to take my boy to the doc, who subsequently (whoa.....good word......) told me he had pink eye.... AND strep.......
Bench: typical warmup 295x3x2 all comp paused, 2 minutes between sets. Very blessed this morning! Hope yall had a wonderful Resurrection weekend!
God Bless!

Excellent work Doug. Pulling is looking strong. I think doing those 30 sec hold will ensure that grip is the least of your worries. Sorry to hear about your boy that's a double whami for sure.

Very excellent work Sir! As soon as we cross paths at a meet, I will buy you a Mt Dew!
500 is ahead on the back straight!
We'll have to find a name for those nasty up-down thingamabobbies...
I keep your boy in prayer. Pink Eye is tedious! Make sure that you do not touch your own eyes...or you'll get it too. My sisters kids got it from another kid at a birthday party, and the all the adults got it later...ugh.

Nice work Doug. My back can't bear to think about SLDL with anywhere near that kind of weight. One of those Giant Icy Hot Patches and a 20 oz. Mountain Dew might be in order.

I agree with rockman. Those are some heavy SLDLs...not to mention they are knuckles to shoelaces. That is some awesome erector and ham strength.

Okay, here's the secret to wheaties. Don't eat just one bowl, eat the whole box. Box included.

You remind me of the arm wrestler from Over the Top...the crazy one who ate cigars and drank motor oil. Maybe there's something to be said for this sort of behavior.
