I sit in awe. Hellacious reps at those percentages when done in a short time.
A few more weeks and I can hit some chains......can't wait.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, guys. That means a LOT!
This week's logamabob
Monday: benching 60, 70% x 5 80% + Chains (equals my 1RM at lockout....ouch.....) 2+1 w/help, 1+2 w/help, dropped the chains and did 3 @ 280
Tuesday: Squatting 60, 70% 3 reps each 80% + chains (95% at lockout) 2, 2, 1, dropped the chains, 1
Today: Deadlifting 60%x3 70%x2 80% x 5 or 6 singles, lost count. Yep, back to singles training! YEE HA!
Chancey, on my last single I tried to do your "hold for 30". I gave up at 25. I respect you my brother!
God Bless all!

Nice lifting Doug. The 30 sec idea was one of those 3speed tidbits passed along to me. I think it has done wonders for my grip. 25 count is pretty dang good! Squatting with chains at 95% percent at lockout! Great chain work! You deserve a Dew with a side of Icy Hot!

I really, really like the looks of your training plan. It looks like something I might see on a Westside article with the chains, singles, % work!!

Nice job Doug! I like that 30 second hold thingamabobbie.
Question, when you do your chains with the load set to 1RM at lockout, where do you get stuck in your ROM? I guess my thought/suggestion was to set up a little over load, say 105% 1RM at lockout with the chains. Of course, that's tricky to load up with chains...very easy to end up with 110% lower down in the ROM and get stapled.

3Speed, I resemble that remark. :')
Chancey, the dew is at my side, and I pre-applied the icy hot! Someone once said great minds think alike, well I'm beginning to worry about you..... :')
Rick, the guy at my gym that helped me set up my deadlift routine uses a loose WS template. At 44 years old, 165 pounds, he set an AAU deadlift record that stood for dang near 10 years. I kinda value his input. :')
TP, my sticking point for my squats is just below the 3/4 squat. I can get outta the hole with far more than I can squat, and I can lock out far more than I can squat. I have the chains bundled up so at about that 3/4 point all the chain is off the floor. That way I'm (hopefully) hitting my weakness. Hitting doubles with 105%......cruel.....vicious.....nasty....I LIKE IT!!!!
:')
Thanks all, and God Bless!

Sooner or later, there always has to be SOME sticking point. You are one strong man. It sounds like you're right on with hitting the full load of the chains at your sticking point. Nice work.

Doug,
Man great lifting.
Sorry to hear about your back. I think you need to get into the swimming pool with me and do some therapy. I hope you get back to 100% soon. Get the ice packs out on this one. I definitely can feel for you on this one.
God bless and heal fast.

365x3 to the laces on SLDL. That's just freaky strong. 275 rips me to shreds and not in a good bodybuilding way ;D. I can see where the tweaky feel might come into the picture.

I'm reading the logs on this board, and have seen a definite pattern. All of you guys are freakishly strong.
Nice lifting, Doug. Take care of that tweaked back. It seems like every time I do that, it takes 2 weeks to heal.

That is some fine liftin', Doug. One thing you do that I'm intrigued by is a lot of pauses/holds on your lifts. I'm already thinking about how to work these in the next cycle. Do you incorporate these every week or how often?? Have a great weekend!!!!

Great workouts Doug...
I noticed that you've already done DLs this morning... do you always DL in the morning? I can't seem to pick a bar off the floor before 10 am without some pain or a lot of "weakness". Perhaps it's my old age or those back injuries I had as a kid... but even with a decent warmup and pain free, I can't DL over 300 early in the morning. In the afternoon or evening, my reps/weights are similiar to yours...
Just wondering if you have some kind of secret?? PS.. I get up usually around 6 AM naturally... but even getting up sooner hasn't worked before... thanks..

Chancey, since my sticking point is about 2" off my chest, I get the best bang per rep if I pause a lot. 90% of the time, if I can get the bar 1/2 way up I can lock it out. I do highly recommend lots of pauses, though, even on the squats. Haven't quite figured out how to pause the deadlift yet......
BearWolf, it's a matter of necessity. Since my son was born, I've had to switch to morning workouts. The way I figure, I lose less family time if I lift in the morning than if I lift in the afternoon. Over time I finally got used to it, but still strongly prefer afternoon workouts. The theory is your test levels are higher in the morning, but your body core temp is lower. I'm also at that age where I'd rather have my body warmed up than high test levels. :')
God Bless!

That is some mighty fine lifting Doug. Good job on that hold! Looking very strong.
I've yet to go down the paused squat road but I will soon.
