That's fantastic work, Doug. Hopefully, you take it as a compliment that I'm always looking to steal something from your routine.

Doug, when you working out again? doing my speed bench and heavy 3 boards today. trying different grip on the 3 boards today, going to go out farther on the bar (ring to index finger on the ring). usually do it with pinky on ring, but think with my meet less then 5 weeks away, need some comp. grip work. will log in this afternoon. chad

Big, steal on! If I had secrets, I wouldn't post them! I just hope someone some day finds a little nugget in there that helps their workouts in some way.
Vike, I go work out every day. I've just tried to limit posting my workouts to just on Friday so the log doesn't get so long. Today I did HSCSILLR....hammer rows....cough cough.... preacher curls and high pulls. They're not lifts I'm competing in so I don't even include them in the log any more.
I'm doing my speed work tomorrow (heavy on Mondays). I actually moved my grip in one finger and found improvement. But you're a bigger guy than I am and probably maximize the tris and pecs better with a bit wider grip. I'm on the ring fingers now by the way.
I'll check back on your log this afternoon.
God Bless.

Capt Karma - your so modest. You have a lot to offer. Just your words of encouragement alone make me want to drop what I am doing and go throw around some iron.
Nice myspace thingie you got there!

Monday, bench + chains on last 3 stets. 55-65-75%, 75% for 3x5. didn't expect 5 for ANY set......Praise the Lord! Tuesday, squat + chains 55-65-75%, 75% 5, 4, 3. Had to adjust my mindset after the first set. With the chains at lockout I was at 80%, and almost NEVER do 80% for 5 reps. Praise the Lord! Today: deadlift 55-65-75%, 75% for 3x5!!!!!!! Praise the Lord!
God Bless.

To God be the glory for a great week of lifting!
Monday: bench, 55-65-75%, 5-5-3x2+chains. Wasn't sure about the bench, decided to focus on completion of good reps rather than volume of good reps. The chains took me over 80% and thank the Lord I completed 3x2 with no assistance. Tuesday: squat, 55-65-75% 3x3 Sasquats on the 75%. Again, praise the Lord for a good day squatting! I misloaded 10 pounds light on the 75%, but finished all 3 sets with good form and drive, so no loss. Today: deadlift. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." The plan was 55-65-75% at 3x5/75%. In the parking lot going in I realized was short on time, no time to change weights again and again. So I thought "5x5 @ 75%." Praise the Lord! 5x5@ 75% with about 3 minutes between sets!
God Bless.

Hey, Chad.
Fortunately I don't have a meet scheduled yet. That'll give me time to really build a base before I start doing meet prep. I've salivated over that 500 squat long enough, time to make it a reality!
Thanks for the kind words.
God Bless.

500 Squat! I like it! I would say it's well within your reach. Those sasquats & chains sure can't hurt your chances!

Great work Doug.
Man, I gotta admire/respect the effort it takes to complete that kind of workout in the time frame you allow yourself....darn near superhuman.
Enjoy that soreness. It means you put forth a good effort.

Doing the "nasty wides" on bench day I see. They will help, believe you me. When you doing a meet? Any idea?

Chancey, those Sumos are supposed to be great for hip strength. Ask me again after I get baptized with icy hot this evening.......
Vike, I haven't been back to the website this week to check the schedule. Last time I looked there wasn't one listed that I could make it to. Right now it's just training, no comp prep. I have a 21 week routine laid out, and you can bet your bippy there's going to be an extra week (of deload) added in REAL soon! :')
God Bless.

With the nasty wides are you trying to build strength off the chest?
Oh, an Icy Hot convert all the way baby - much to my wifes chagrin!

Chancey, Louie Simmons talked about llegal wide grip bench in a couple of his articles. best I can recall, he uses them to build shoulder and chest strength, especially right off the chest. Have not done them much in the last couple of weeks since I have a meet a week from tomorrow, but can tell a difference since I started back doing them. chad

Pardon the hijackin' Doug. I can see how that would help. My only problem is that the further I go out the more shoulder pain I develop. I am intrigued though.
