I second the congratulations on the birth of your son! Also, are you still taking creatine? My experience was that it increases your bodyweight to the point where it outweighs (pun intended) any strength gains... Maybe as a 165 you can stand to gain some bodyweight (not sure about your height), but I'm 5'5 and 210 with 20+% bodyfat... so, no creatine for me! Great job on the squats, I outweigh you considerably and you've got me well beaten when it comes to this lift! Nice pulling, too... It's nice to see everything coming together for you.

BL...a belated congratulations on the birth of your son. Glad to hear mom and son are doing well.
You wife must be some woman. Most wives would maim their husbands for disappearing to the gym right after childbirth.

And she would be right to do so . However, the gym is one floor down in the house and I'm maximizing the 24hr availability! The schedule has changed from 3x/week to whenever there is time, even if that means 2 really short workouts the same day. I'm always amazed at how the body can be totally exhausted and still crank out great workouts. Maybe testosterone just runs high at 1AM

Yes, I am finishing up about the 8th week of creatine and will discontinue soon. I am also 5' 5" and right now hovering around 173-175. This is just a bit higher than I would like, but I'm lucky enough to be able to drop weight just by not eating like a horse. Getting back to 165 won't be a huge problem. I caught your post about doing the VA meet. Best of luck with that. What weight class are you shooting for?

Congratulations BL.......nice work Bro.
You only need to get on the platform and add 115 pounds to what you are repping in the gym to hit your 12 week goal. This is a very attainable goal as long as you continue to train smart and stay healthy.
The goal is in sight.

Congrats! To take 10# more than your previous PR for two doubles is EXCELLENT! Congrats, BL!
I like the plan of taking the same pounds for an extra week or two. That's my whole MO for this current plan I'm using. I can't wait to read your results, I'll use your insights to adjust accordingly.
Again, congrats!
God Bless.

Awesomely stupendous job on the bench and DLs! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! If I do a rough estimate of a "assumed" 1RM, you look to be VERY close to the 12 week goal you set for this Sunday.......the squat is right there, the deadlift sho' nuff, the bench is really really close. I would suspect if there were a meet tomorrow and you had a 9/9 day bringing the sink, you would at least scare the daylights out of 1245! I get great pleasure watching your progress! Tell me again, aren't you a 165? ?? God Bless!

Thanks Doug. The PR's are certainly a good motivator toward the 1200+ goal. I stopped creatine and am back down to a comfortable 169 (175 at the peak). Could probably drop 4 pounds with a few extra walks to the mailbox. I will approach the 12 week goals by hitting the low number of the range and then the higher goal if everything feels good or somewhere in between, depending on how the first RM goes. Anything from 1205 - 1245 would be great with 6 weeks left to go.

Excellent job on all three lifts! That's some serious weight you are pushing (and pulling). Especially when you consider your bodyweight! 445 is my max DL and I'm 213... here you go pulling it for 2 sets of 2 reps at 169. Great stuff! Good luck with the rest of your cycle.

EXCELLENT WORK BL!!!!!!
Turning goals into reality!! The great thing about doing that is you earned it by hard work. Nobody did it for you or gave it to you. Congratulations Bro.

Too early to go back to the drawing board! If you're not in competition prep mode, you have plenty of time to re-visit the previous set/rep combo for a week or two. So if you go from a 20 week goal to a 22 week goal but meet it (as with the squats.....YESSSS!!!!!!) then what have you lost? Nothing! You have gained huge amounts on all lifts and your total.
So be patient, keep on pumping that big iron, but play the patient card for an extra week or two. 1320 is still very VERY reasonable looking from where I stand!
God BLess.

I agree with Doug. There is still time to back-off then cycle back up for the meet. I would drop to paused singles starting at 30-35 pounds less than your meet goal and going up 5 pounds per week. I think 310 is still very doable by the time of the competition. I'd start at 280 or so for a paused single and work up to 1x310 on the week of 3/18... just do your opener on 3/25 and hope for the best come meet day. Just my two cents, mind Good luck with whatever you decided to do.

Biglifter, just so you'll know how good of advice Abe just gave, it's worthy of about 5 karmas. You are already freaky strong, whether you go 165 or 181. You have already made excellent gains, and no doubt if you don't hit your planned total you will scare the daylights out of it!
God Bless.

Thanks both of you. Great advice and support, as usual. Abe, you read my mind on slowly creeping up to it. I think rather than taking a 25 lb. jump, 5lb. a week will still get me there soon. Just like on your squats, persistence will make it happen.

I gotta hand it to you, that is pretty slick! I am going to keep a CLOSE eye on your log to see how that high/low squatting goes! Being more of a squatter myself, constantly looking for ways to improve, that sounds pretty doggone skippy to me!
(35 more pounds to the goal!)
God Bless.

Brother Big, last week you hit the 465 and a gut buster at 480. I am going to just guess that a week without deadlifting heavy might do you more good than going heavy again next week. Give the low back and the CNS a chance to breathe deeply for a bit, then go back the next week and see if it worked. 4 more training weeks to go is not the time to fry the low back! Keep in mind that's just my two cents, and that I feel your pain about the pizza buffet. I just want you to post that you had a 9/9 meet and didn't feel overtrained!
God Bless.

I think Doug has a valid point. The way I see it next week would be an excellent time to do that and you could still get 4 more DL sessions before the meet. Once again nice lifting. I especially like those squats!
