Hello everyone. I use to post on here years ago, I decided to come back to chat with some dear friends, and thought you might like to see my log. At this time my training is just starting again. My life is as busy as I can make. I am finishing my Masters Degree, I work 50+ hours a week, I do a little teaching, and a lot of volunteer work.
My current routine is something I learned from Ryan Celli who broke Larry Pacifico's all time raw total record at 198 lbs. (Ryan totaled 1840). I have lifted in the USAPL, 100% raw, ADAU, IPA, and SPF Enjoy and feel free to ask questions.

tu, sort of, my only goal is to get back to consistent powerlifting training. I did a local gym meet last November and cobbled a six week training cycle prior to the meet and did ok. I can't think of meet until late summer. I need to be done with school first. If I can train consistently, and overcome some issues such as a sore right knee and what I think is tendonitis in my right elbow, maybe I can do a USAPL meet in november and qualify for the raw challenge at the Arnold.
Not sure if I will ever lift in 100% again. I have become somewhat dependent on knee sleeves to keep my knees warm and healthy and don't want to risk training without them. Since 100% doesn't allow that, I will have to wait and see,
I would love to finally break 700 lbs in my squat and total over 1800 some day.
-Steve

Something must be in the air big Steve. Its like you, me and Toolpod, for various reasons, needed to mount comebacks at the same time. Best of luck....and hopefully your muscle memory chase doesn't cause the same headaches as mine about a year ago (like two pec tears in three months). I'm just now running on all cylinders. The bench is above pr level, my dead is the same (which isnt much) and my squats closing.
We will have to hit a meet together sometime this year. If your talking about the King's Gym meet in November, I'm going to do everything I can to zero in on it this year.

Welcome back. I remember you used to stick to something like squat/bench/deadlift 3x a week. Looking forward to your log.

Steve: At first I took that to mean we might have to convince him to do something besides deadlift only...lol. That could be a good return meet if he doesn't hit something else. It would be super cool to all qualify for the Arnold. Columbus is like a second home to me, and I have a lot of family there to show us around.

Last workout was posted on Feb 10th Steve...your might have a case of what I got between 2008-2011! I'd probably still be lax if thirty didn't hit as hard as it did....I'm already looking at things like I'm on borrowed time...lol.

Ah to be young and have the time with no distractions to be just a powerlifter, unfortunately or rather fortunately life happens. As of right now my life is as busy as can possibly be. I work no less than 50 hours a week, I am completing my masters degree which requires 20 hours a week of study, reading and writing. I TA in the undergrad program, which takes another 10 hours a weeks, I teach sunday school, have a wife and one son in college the other in high school, and I am acting in an upcoming production of shakespeare's The Tempest. oh and I train. Last few weeks I purposely had foregone the lifting due to a bad cold. but I trained tonight so hopefully you shall see more entries to my log

Yea, its amazing how, when I had the time, I focussed on training beach muscles and grabbing a beer. Now the worlds on my shoulders, and I have goals. No wonder I'm just now finishing college...where the Hades was this motivation before all the responsibility? I think I had to get my bachelors in screwing up so I could get my masters in success...lol.

Folks, I have to suspend this log. The play I am in opens this coming thursday and there is no way I will be able to fit in training ontop of that crazy schedule of work, school, and opening. In two weeks I should be able to resume training.

Great bench. Did you play Superman in the play?. You were doing great volume before the play.

deadlift day, man life cannot get better than this! I am blessed. I have not deadlifted in a long time, like 3 months, so my weights are down, but feeling that cold iron in your hands pulling with all your might is just plain fun!!!
Deadlifts 1x120x10 1x220x10 1x320x8 1x320x8 1x320x8 1x320x8 1x320x8 (had to use wrist wraps, my left elbow has some pain in which I think is tendinitis)
Rack pulls with bands doubled up 3x320+tensionx3
rack pulls are one thing but with bands the tension wants to yank you back down, so even in the lock out position I have to squeeze anc continue to pull. I LOVE IT
Zercher squats 2x220x3 (starting to fade)
dumbell shrugs 2x55x25
done and loving life

Steve....the Cleveland meet is the only thing I'm gunning for in November. I'm doing a Police and Fire meet in June, but am looking to hit something serious then (1700 is the goal..not sure if 242 or 275). It would be nice to have someone with experience tag along...lol. This translates to...think you might be up for it again?

George that sounds super cool. Last November I did a local meet and with only 10 weeks of training hit a 1660 total. I was planning on lifting in November anyway. My goal is to shed some pounds, and get my total back up over 1700. I also like to do a fund raiser for the homeless children's education fund and get sponsors ( a penny a pound). So the timing should be right. Plus it would be awesome to lift with you again, maybe we could get toolpod to come out and "handle us"

Could I help with the fundraiser? I'm sure I could get some people on board around here. Reminds me of our high school "weight-a-thons"....we benched for a penny a pound. That only gave a risk of under four dollars, not seventeen, but I'm all for it. Easily some local businesses would do it, which could give a coupled hundred dollars alone. There is also a community forum where I might be able to post the idea and take names of anyone interested...not to mention it should garner interest in the local schools.

George lets keep talking about it. Maybe we can even do our own thread on it and video some of our training sessions and what not. Just thinking out loud.
