Hi guys! Happy new year to you all.
This semester isn't supposed to be as hectic as last semester, so I may be able to post more regularly. It's before 8:00 on the first day so who knows.....
Still in recovery mode on the bench. Here's today's workout:
Prehab, 5 minutes
Bench: 135 3x8 paused Decline: 135 3x8 Tricep hammers: 50# 3x8 "Louie Simmons Tricep Thingys": 35# 3x8 Lawnmower pulls: 50# 3x8 Bench singles: 135x2, 185, 225, 250
The 250 felt good (albeit quite heavy), no pain other than rust being knocked loose off the shoulders.
God Bless!

Glad to see you posting again brother. Great news about the proposed schedule.
Slow and easy with the shoulders....take it from an old man who has been there a few times.

Thanks guys, it's GREAT to be back, for however long it lasts....
Squatted today, with all intentions of going light. It worked.
315 for 3x4.
(I always list sets/reps)
It was a nice way to pre-empt the "comeback soreness", feel just a little weight, and not incapacitate myself for the next few days. Felt GREAT!
God Bless.

Good to see you posting again Doug. A quick question regarding your shoulder and squats: Do you feel some discomfort in your set-up?? I have some trouble keeping everything tight but I don't want to go back to a high bar placement. Oh and you wondered about OHS over in my log: There is actually one guy at my gym who cannot bench press but he has no difficulties doing overhead presses. Hes pretty good at them too. I guess it all depends on the type or exact spot of the injury. Just take it easy on the joints. I actually started using icy-hot last fall...good stuff.

Fascinating.... the only OH thing I can do is "Arnold Presses", although I almost hate to admit that. Can't even do an incline without discomfort. My squats don't hurt at all, although my training partner does experience what he describes as "I know something's there" on his shoulder during squat setup. Thanks, guys! God Bless

As a card carrying member of the Dopar fan club I am excited to see you back. I give you a lot of credit for the way this board has succeeded. Your Karma spreads throughout.
315 is light squatting? Geeez.....

There are some big weights being lifted here.
I look forward to the day when I can refer to squatting 315 for 3x4 as light!

Deadlift: Same as last week, 455x5 singles. This week they all felt GOOD! Ran really short on time so for the last two instead of taking a break I just pulled a double, only resetting my grip and breath in between the last two.
Now it's time for my metamucil and geritol...
OOPS, I meant Icy Hot and Mountain Dew! My bad!
:')
Yall have a BLESSED weekend!

Now it's time for my metamucil and geritol... Try and get a rise from an atrophied muscle, and the nerves in your thigh just quivers and fizzles So you know, that you're over the hill When your mind makes a promise that your body can't fill (from Old Folks Boogie by Little Feat) Welcome to Geezerhood, Doug!

Been snowed in all week, only second trip to the gym. Did bench accessories.
CGBP: 205x3x8 shoulder felt fine, just a little rusty Decline: 205x3x8, same thing. Tricep Hammers: 60x3x8, up 10# from last week best I recall. Louie Simmons rollback pressup thingys: 40#x3x8, think I moved up on these as well.
Thanks for all the comments, guys. Trying to keep all those supplements separate is tough. They say the first thing to go is your, um, ah, what was that again?.....
:')
God Bless.
