I'm a Masters powerlifter (age 55) transitioning into raw powerlifting. I've always been a wide-stance squatter and sumo deadlifter, and have consistently outsquatted my best deadlift. Going raw, however, I find that the groin stress is increased to the point at which, following a good competition squat, I can't manage a sumo deadlift, and I've had to switch to my (inferior) conventional deadlift.
Has anyone else had this problem?
If so, does anyone have any suggestions?

Going raw, you will find that you have to move your squat stance in just a bit. The suit took a lot of the stress from the groin area that your body is now absorbing.
I squat wide and sumo dead myself. Years ago, before I took a 10 year break from lifting, I used the old supersuit and was able to squat much wider than I do now. I have been able to stay with my sumo dead though. I just had to modify my squat slightly.

Thank you very much. It looks like I'll have to make a choice: my squat is my best lift, but if I want a good deadlift, I might have to scale back the squat. I don't think I'll be able to get the same weights with a narrower stance.
