does anyone use a hit style type training routine.if so how does your routine look like and do you hit the 3 big lifts on the same training day.also how do you prepare for a competition.low reps rest pause what. i have a hard time finding any routine info for this style of training on powerlifting.hit style training works well for me since i have a hard time recovering and my job has me on the road days at time.

Howdy, Jay! All excellent questions. Let me start by saying I'm not an advocate of HIT. I do have a close friend like a brother who is a HUGE proponent of HIT. Without giving away his email address, follow this link to another forum, and ask for Bryan to answer your questions. cpoa.proboards58.com/You will have to register, we had some troll problems there. Go figure. :') But once you do you can get Bryan's email address from him, he's really great about talking training. My .02 for the other questions: NO don't do all three lifts on the same day! That's just too daggone intense! Well, some folks can handle it, I must be getting too old. Squat once heavy per week, deadlift heavy every 10-14 days, never work out til you sweat, that's my philosophy. Now, given your time limitations, I'd HIGHLY recommend PM'ing 3Speed. He's in a similar time crunch, and has put together a really effective plan for maintaining and adding strength with the weekend workouts. Comp prep: increasing poundages and decreasing reps, certainly! Low reps is subjective, but I get the best results "for me" by working from 5 down to 1, with a minimum of about 5 sets of some combination of 1 to 5 working reps. Spotters, recovery time, workout time, all kind of dictate what the combination is. Feel free to pm me if you have more questions! And all the best with the time crunches, they can be a drag. God Bless.

ya thanks for the comeback.i just recently competed in a competition.used a belt and wraps.my lifts were 430 squat 235 bench 430 deadlift.i used a routine of just squats and bench twice a week and added deadlift once every 2nd or 3rd workout. i basically just worked up to a heavy single every workout.this worked pretty good allthough the last 3 weeks of my training i felt that i started to overtrain.maybe thats probably becuase of going heavy every workout for the last 2 months.its always hard to get the wright routine but i know one thing that with the work commitements and family time i nedd lots of rest in between workouts.thats why i think doing the 3 lifts every workout might work good.

Daggone! SOMETHING is working! That's pretty doggone good numbers, unless you weigh over 400!
One thing is for certain, if you go heavy too long your poor old CNS takes a pounding. Rest is definitely good. Again, I say get in touch with Bryan and talk to him about it. He has a degree in (I think) exercise physiology or something fancy sounding like that. He's a 165 or light 181 and has deadlifted 600+ in exhibitions, 500+ in several comps. Plus he's full-time assistant Pastor, has a side hustle, a kid, and a wife.....might have something in common.
:')
NICE numbers, Jay!
God Bless.

Jay,
I am sure you've seen this but if you have not check out the HIT FAQ by Robert E. Spector. Its on the net somewhere. Interesting stuff. I remember way back when Mike Mentzer was preaching these concepts.
