I'm not sure if these forums are live anymore but i have a question anyway.
If your objective is to gain strength and your an older lifter ie 57 is it ok to train if your still aching from the last session or should you wait until your fully recovered ?
Thanks for any replies in advance.

Soreness/aching/creakiness are not signs of imminent disaster. The more you train, the stronger you get, within a relative scale of reason, of course. Its absolutely true that the older you get, the longer it takes you to recover from just about any/everything, but soreness/discomfort from resistance training is not necessarily an indicator of over training or lack of proper recovery.
If you have muscle soreness or discomfort, certainly push through it. If you have joint issues, that could be orthopedic and so you might want to do some form checks, or worst case, see a doc for the joint(s) ailing you.
Does that answer your question?

I think it depends what you're talking about. Is it muscle soreness? Joint soreness? Without knowing the details it's really impossible to give an answer. I think one of the things that's important especially when we're getting older and may have preexisting injuries is to be able to listen to our bodies and determine what's going on, and tweak our training in need be.
