I went to the gym today and there was only two of us in there for the majority of my session. I had never seen the other guy before. I usually warm up on squats starting with multiple sets of 5, dropping to 3s and eventually doubles up to around 75-80%. I then drop to singles slowly working up to a heavy single before dropping back for a few heavy sets of doubles or triples. I had done a couple of my singles on the way up when the other fellow walks over to me and says - and I am qouting here - "You know if you spent more time training and less time showing off, you would actually make better progress". I would normally just ignore even the presence of someone offering unsolicited advice, but something about the way he said it just irritated me. I didn't say a word to him. I put another quarter on each side and proceeded to do a set of 5. I actually had a very good heavy set because of him but he never came back over so I could thank him. just thought I would share... End of story.... carry on

got a lot of that when I trained at a commercial gym. Several times when I would train heavy and I was doing a lot of singles I would get comments like “That’s not really doing anything for you.” Or, the obligatory “you are going to hurt yourself”

I haven't gotten any of those yet. Mostly people coming up to me asking questions and that sort of thing which, as long as it's not in the middle of me actually doing something, I'm fine with.
Maybe I'll get some of these tards you guys run into once I'm actually moving some weight! For now, I consider myself lucky, and it's the first time I can remember thinking that not being as strong as I want to be yet is to my advantage! hahaha.

Glad I train at home. I deal w/ folks when not training listening to them talk about diet and exercise and I wonder if they've ever done either by the info they are spouting off about.
