Well, I have been gone since Oct 23rd. I think I was complaining about the gym closing and me needing a key...I left the gym and thought, wow my left leg is tired, I must have trained harder than I thought. at 4PM I spoke to my training partner he said I sounded drunk...thought it was a pill I took to relax a pulled neck muscle. at 9 I went to get off the couch..and fell to the floor and could not feel my left leg or my left arm....then argued that I did not need an ambulance as my leg was asleep (DENIAL)...I was having a stroke!
DO NOT BE LIKE ME! I denied it for hours and could have ended this story way differently. My doctor said he never saw anyone stroking as bad as I was (an hour into my hospital stay) and talking and alert as I was. Bottom line, my heavy training..deads mostly.. are what I am blamin for the stroke. As I read, a rapid decrease in blood pressure can result in a cholesterol plaque breaking loose and causing a blockage. drop 520 pounds and not have your blood pressure drop a bit. I have clearance for 60 pounds each hand or as heavy as I can WITHOUT straining my head. SOOO I am back, light but back and I will post my training because I lived to train and set an example for the younger crowd. getting through this emotionally was and is as hard as you might imagine. As I train with the light weights I want to scream "I had a stroke, 4 months ago and back then, I would not have warmed up this light!" but the way I need to look at it is Thank you God that I am alive! Thank you for my wife who kept "suggesting" I go to the gym and at least walk the treadmill. I will ge another brain scan on the 17th and from there I plan on getting my training moving back to where I was, I know I still have a narrowing in my 3rd cerebral artery, but I feel it may have been there longer than october and only my training changes may have brought it to my attention. Do not ever deny symptoms we may be tough and strong or whatever you call it, but a blood clot the size of somewhat smaller than a pinhead nealy killed me...train like there is no tomorrow and definitly be thankful for every day you train! Strength and Honor! Fred
