Just something I have been thinking about, I can dead lift 585 at the gym without any chalk they do not allow it there but when it comes to my rep set of lets say 525 toward the end of work out when I want to pump out between 3-5 I get to 2 sometimes 3 but my hands start to give way to the weight , Should I use straps to get the full potential lift ?? or will that kill my grip ?? sometimes I just think that I am just getting older and my grip just is getting weaker. Any tips out there Thanks Giovanni.

I would not use straps because that basically avoiding the problem – your grip I would suggest trying to work in some grip work and build it up. I have one of the grip toy squeeze things I play with while I’m at work. I also do grip work in the gym some of the exercises I do are:
Turning a dumbbell on end and lift it by grasping the end like a claw grip and I try to hold it for 30 to 60 seconds
Basic dumbbell holds – Grab the heaviest dumbbells you have in the gym like you’re going to do a shrug and just hold them for 60 to 90 seconds
Set up the bar in the squat cage like you are going to do pin pulls, then standing sideways to the bar lift and hold
To make any of these more instance get a pair of fat gripz
I’m not sure what old. I’m 46 (I turn 47 in July) and if you ask my wife she’ll tell you that old. I may have to work harder for my gains than I did 20 years ago but I’m still progressing
