I am new to lifting competitions. I an not a squater but, I believe body weight does matter. With that said, I am a bench presser. I was wondering with the rep competition, I can rep out 18 presses at my weight. Do you think that is respectable enough to be a true competitor in that challenge? Also, was wondering about smelling salts. I have seen a couple of guys use them before they bench, do you think that helps at all? Or, is that just another mental tactic? Thanks, Paul. I hope these dont seem like dumb questions. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

I’m not much for the rep challenge myself but in most of the events I’ve seen it’s usually the lighter guys who win.
