Hey Greg, thanks for the comments Second Bench workout of the week. Right shoulder some and elbow had a sensation I had not felt before. Not really a pain but bothersome. Changed my routine a little to loosen up
Warmup-did some stretching and 2 sets of 20 pushups 45x20 135x12 205x8 paused 255x6 paused 315x3 paused 320x6 330x6 330x6 330x6
Cut the workout a little short because I have a project due in my Kinesiology class. I am doing the kinesiology of the bench press which I have to present on Wednesday during finals week. The workout did not go too bad. I started out a little slow but it picked up. On my 3rd set with 330 I saw my spotter touch the bar because it was a grinder. Says he didn't help but you know how that goes.

Had problems getting loose but eventually did
Bench 45x20 135x12 205x6 265x6 315x3 paused 340x5 375x3 340x5 375x2 340x4 365x1 paused
Close grip 225x8 276x6 295x6 315x4
on set of 3 with 375 spotter touched bar on third rep. He said he didn't help but it sure felt like it. Can't consider it a PR until next time and with a different spotter, Pause rep with 365 was good solid rep.

Most days I workout with a group of guys that know what they are doing but last week was finals week for me and I had to change my workout days. You are definitely right about finding good help.

I am competing in the Richmond Open. It is a USAPL meet with both raw and equipped lifters. I will be in the 220# open and 50-59 raw. Goal is to do 390 for a state, American, and PR records. I will open with around 350 depending on if it's in pounds or kilos and then go to about 370. After that will depend on how I feel. I know I will get 370 which will set the records except for a PR. I need at lest 385 to set a new PR.

Just a quick note about my competition on 4-16. I was a little disappointed in my performance and did not achieve my goals. Was successful with 352 and 369 in the bench only but missed 385 which would have been a PR. I had planned on setting an American record for my age group in my age group but they had a couple of certified national judges missing because of a death in the family. I would have set a new record with my 369 but I certainly can't complain when someone else is dealing with death of a loved one.

that's still some solid pressing! good job with the competition. that's a bummer about the judges, although with a death i certainly understand. however, now you know you can smoke that record under meet conditions, and the next time you get a chance that record is yours!

Going to school to become a Physical Therapist's Assistant. I had my own furniture business but was forced to close after 8 years due to the economy. There are not a whole lot of jobs available for a 57 year old with no degree. Once I graduate I will have no problem getting a job because there is a real shortage of PT's and PTA's. I checked it out and did over 120 volunteer hours to make sure I would enjoy it and it really got me fired up. I will be helping people rehab and facilitate their healing. It involves a lot of knowledge of the body and how it works. A great job for someone that likes to workout
