I am interested in attending and maybe competing in a meet, but have a question. when I look at results to see what guys my age and weight are lifting I see nothing listed as results for my age and weight 220# 55-59. does this mean no competitors were in this group? Like I said just wanted an estimate on what others in my group were doing so I didn't embarrass my self I looked at October 18, West Coast Single Lift Championships October 17-18th www.rawpowerlifting.com/results/NV/2009-10-18Las%20Vegas.pdf

That is very possible. Especially if you are looking at a specific meet. If you really want to get a look at what people in your age/weight class are doing I would look at the rankings (Under Athletes) for 2010, both the open and the masters. That will tell you exact where you would have fallen in the federation in you class. Regardless, if you love to lift and you have any desire at all step on the platform I would say just do it. You numbers don’t really matter.

With all the weight & age classes this is very common. Quite often it is like pee wee sports where everyone goes home with hardware.
Be aware of the rules & do the meet. You are dealing with a small group of people that are generally very helpfully & supportive. Come back & tell us how good a time you had.

Purdum, I'm in the 220 -60-64 class and went to my first meets this past year. Its really a fun time and people will help you with anything you are not sure of. Just go to a meet and lift and you will enjoy it. Don't worry about what anyone else does, just do your best
