Are there any good books out there that show a person how to train for strongman/highland games? I looked on Amazon, but couldn't find anything good.

You might try www.oldtimestrongman.com/ Iām not an expert but from what little experience I have I would say add the military press to your basic core lifts (bench, dead lift and squats) I would incorporate some cleans and snatches into you routine. Also, grip is crazy important in lot of the strongman events. One easy way to work on grip is to build up your bar ā you can just wrap a towel around where you grab the bar. Or you can purchase Fat Gripz, There kind of expensive but I like them. they are easy to use and move from bar to bar. www.fatgripz.com/ . Basically do the same workouts just use the fat gripz ā lol you may want to drop the weight by 40% to 50% till you get use to using them. The other thing is you just have get your hands on the equipment and just start using it. For the highland games go to your local Landscaping store and by a river rock or 2 or even 3 Open stone 16 to 20 pounds Braemar Stone Putt 20 to 28 pounds www.nasgaweb.com/main.asp - For more information on the rules for the highland games Now throwing weights can get expensive but check out the link below for an adjustable weight ranging from 16 to 72 configurations. i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh61/sk_etch06/IMG_4296.jpg if you have question you can email Chris @ "legendary-strength@live.com" Hope some of this helps Dan
