Breaking ground on my biggest garden yet, 1 acre, I plan to do this without using insecticides or atificial fertilizers. I have been doing my homework and know what strategies to employ. Most of the produce we buy at the grocery store has been grown with bug sprays, irradiated, and coated with vegtable oil sprays. These counterbalance alot of the healthy benefits by adding toxins in our body. While I know it is impossible to completely get away from this, I can at least give my body a break from this during the spring and summer. Anybody else out there growing or raising their own food? [I also have 13 chickens and 10 ducks}

I grow a little patch every year plus get stuff from my dads garden which is pretty big.if nothing else i do it just for the better tasting food.as far as the chickens and ducks you can have that! haha i hate the butchering of them its to much of a job!when i was a kid we would do 100 plus chickens and 20 plus mascovey ducks every year but it is better tasting food !

Done some butchering myself. Family hated it. We just keep our poultry for eggs now. I got my lettuce cabbage and spinach started under glass.
