:oJust a little something that I stumbled across that might take your training to a new level and save you some bucks at the same time. Like most lifters, I've been knocking down Whey and Casein shakes for years with mixed results. I normally buy what's on sale but at the same time I try to buy from reputable companies. About a couple of months ago I was at GNC price shopping when the manager asked me if I had ever tried MRP's. I told him "no" and inquired why he asked. He explained to me that MRP's were more complete because they normally contain a blend of several proteins and they contain carbs and healthy fats. He also told me that he had some boxes whose shelf life was running short that he would sell me at 1/2 price. I purchased 2 boxes (40 packets) for less than 40 dollars. Since I started taking the MRP's I have added about 6 pounds of what seems like quality muscle and my PR's have all shot up. They also taste better and if you consider that they are actually meal replacements they are very affordable. I figure I'm paying about 95 cents per serving. I will still continue to use regular whey/casein but not nearly as much. Currently, I have one for breakfast and another pre-workout. I take the regular whey after my workout and the casein before I go to bed at night. I have purchased both the MET-RX and GNC products. MET-RX has 37 grams of protein and the GNC product contains 40 grams. Before you buy, ask if the store has any that are marked down because of the shelf life. I'm sure the manager will be glad to get rid of them. Take care and keep lifting...

MRP's are great, depending what you are looking for. I have used them for years(Met-Rx). I take one everyday in the mid-morning as a snack replacement. However, they are more expensive than regular protein. I do not take them at night as I don't want all the carbs, cals. etc. to go to bed on. That is where the casein comes into play. It is the best for nighttime. Most MRP's don't have casein or a minimal amount at best.

I'm pretty sure it is cheaper to buy the whey protein and the Maltodextrin separate and make one shake than the MRP's. Some MRP's contain sugar as well. If there is no sugar in them, and the price is right, you can definitely put on some lean mass with them.
