I think I would go with an overhead log press over the bench. My experience has told me that folks get amped up for Atlas stones & the tire flip. Those sand bags can be brutal - love it. I like that keg throw too. If you don't have stones you could have them do a keg medley. Nice start. What kinda weight you looking at?

I am just wanting to put together a good show and gathering advice like yours, and will roll with it about may 2009,
I will make the wights very doable but will have some type of max lifting involved, I think the 18" rack pull is a staple and a real crowd pleaser.
thanks for the advice chancey

Not sure what the landscape is like around you but field stones are awesome as well. Recently we set up an overhead field stone press medley. About 5 stones. Very cool and very hard to lift because of the shape of some of them.

The type of event you are talking about(pl/strongman mix) is a great idea. Couple of things to keep in mind. Any type of rising bar, max., etc. is going to take a long time to run. Chancey is right with the stone loading and tire flipping. The crowd loves them and relates to it from TV. Another great event is the truck pull, it does however, take quite awhile to run. Depending on your equipment situation, we have found that things run the best with 2 competitors going at a time, ie: log press, farmers walk. Spectators love to see this. Something else to keep in mind, check out the NAS website, www.nastrongmaninc.com for upcoming meets, as there will be sanctioned meets around that time and you may want to plan accordingly so you can get competitors to come out.

Here's a link you may or may not know about for purchasing atlas stone molds. My friend has some and by adding styrofoam or steel you can get yourself an awesome set of stones. www.slatershardware.com/stonemolds.html
