The 2008 Nebraska Strongest Man II in now set. It will be July 12, 2008. I am sending in the sanctioning form and entry within a week or two and then the entry form and rules will be posted. The contest is once again being held to benefit Camp CoHoLo, www.campcoholo.com, a local camp for children ages 6-17 with cancer or a blood disorder. All proceeds will go to the camp. Camp CoHoLo has no paid staff so all the money raised goes towards the children and their needs. Visit their website to learn more about them and what they do.
The contest is being held in downtown Papillion, NE (about 5 miles south of Omaha) at the American Legion Post #32 (same location as last year). Right next to it there is a large park with a lot of shade trees, a shelter area, restrooms and playground. A great place to spend the day with the family. The Legion will have concessions available again and we will supply the competitors with drinks during the competition. We are planning on a great turnout again with 600-1,000 spectators. We will also, once again, have some very unique awards for the top three in each division. This year the contest will be a Platinum level show so the top three in each division will qualify for Nationals. The divisions will be LW, MW, HW, Masters & Womens.
We will also have our $1 raffle, with all proceeds going to the camp. We raised $1,800 for the children last year and hope to raise even more this year. There will be gift cards, supplements, t-shirts, books, DVD’s, weightlifting equipment and much more.
Plan on attending and remember, there are only 40 spots available so when we are full, there will be a waiting list started.
Last year we filled up quickly so get your entries in early so you don’t miss out. Also, the order of competitors will be determined by when the entries are received. First ones in, last ones to go. The events will be Max. Axle, Farmers 120’ w/turn at 60’, Keg Carry for Distance (Husefeldt Style), Sandbag Load, Super Medley (Yoke, Duck Walk, Sled Drag). The contest will be platinum level and much heavier than last year.
