I am looking at putting on a drug tested Strongman contest this August in Virginia. It would have two wt classes Under 200 and over 200 with Open division and Masters (over 40).
It would be four events with the the winners drug tested. Let me know if there is interest in this.
Possible Events (not offical)
Truck Pull 75 feet Ford F350 45 pound plate throw shot put style Farmers Walk Stone Loading Tire Flip

Yes, as long as the weights are doable but not too light. Example, farmers walk in the 225-250 per hand. Alot of contests now days have 300 plus per hand, and 800 plus yoke carry. These type of weights are just too much for me. On the other hand if you are running with a pair of 100-150's it's more of a track meet.
Events are also an issue for me. I like equal upper and lower body events. Some contests amount to five or six variations of a deadlift.
These two things have put me out of the sport. If you test then more than likely you won't see too many guys running with 300 plus per hand.
I'll be there to participate. Masters division is a great idea also.

Is this going to be a NAS sanctioned event? If so, let the competitors know I will be holding Master Ntls. Sep. 20. They could get qualified at your show.
I promote a bunch of strongman shows so if there is anything I can do or questions I can answer, let me know.
Events look good, nice variety. I would make you two classes more like 225-230 and under and 225-230 and over for your open division.

If NAS is involved I'm not. I assumed this would be a 100% raw sanctioned meet.

We are looking to do a four event drug tested Strongman contest in August 2009 with the 100% RAW Eastern USA Open. It would have no offical sanction.

John,
The SM competition looks fun. I've never done anything like it.
I might participate someday but I have a tendancy to get injured easily even on basic slow PL type lifts. It seems like this might be too hard on my 45 year old joints, but maybe I would be ok with this. My Fred. YMCA does not have SM type training equipment but I could improvise.
I think that Greg Stott the PL in NC does SM competitions.
Great job on the May 9 Masters PL meet!
Thanks.
Carl
