Just wanted to let everyone know about the Gus Lohman Challenge I just competed in Saturday. If you ever have a chance to do this show, do it. It is one of the best shows in the country. The competitor bags alone are worth the entry fee. They were a new duffle bag with a meet t-shirt, titan support t-shirt, apt knee wraps, 4 detour bars and a skull cap. Afterwards, the promoter puts on a free BBQ for all the competitors and their families. It is just outside of St. Joseph, MO. All proceeds go to Camp Quality, a camp for kids with terminal cancer. He wqas able to raise over $1,000 to give to this charity. I competed in two divisions (I had to do ten events) for the first time. The events were an overhead press medley, deadlift medley, farmers walk, keg load & stones. I won the Masters division(I won every event) and got 5th out of 6(just missed 4th by 2pts.) in the MW open division. It was more of a personal challenge than anything, just to see if I could finish all the events and stay competitive without getting injured. I managed all that. It was a great time but boy am I sore and stiff today. Anyway, I just wanted to pass this along as I was pretty excited about the days happenings. D.J.

Awesome! Not just your results, but the fundraising as well. That is a worthy cause. I never got any feedback on how much the guys in New Bern raised back in May, so hearing this from you is good stuff. Congratulations on your placing, congratulations on winning all the events in your age group, in completing all the events, and not getting hurt! Now go baptize yourself with Icy Hot!
:')
God Bless. Doug P.

Doug - Thanks, it was nice to finish all ten events and do well. Yeah, the fundraising thing is really nice, especially for those kids.
Greg - I am planning on doing another strongman in Aug., Columbia, MO and then either do Master Ntls. Sep. 23 and McPherson, KS Sep. 24, (finish Ntls., drive 8 hrs. to KS. and compete again the next day) or I will just go to McPherson and do the Highland Games Sat. and strongman on Sun. I have never touched the Highland stuff, so that could be interesting. It mostly depends on how many sign up for Master Ntls. I went in 2004 and there were 19 in my class. Last year there were only 3, I didn't go and I won't this year if that is all there is. I probably won't make it to Orlando but definitely want to try and hit Worlds. That pic of you flipping the car is sweet. Nice job. D.J.
