I was watching the strongeman marathon yesterday, how do you know what event is coming at the contest. For some of the contest showed up with their game face on, where others could only do like one rep or what ever. I watch some just have donkey some of the events like they did not even give a crap what happens. I know it is difficult, so how do you train when you do not even know what is coming at you.

Howdy - All the meets for the amateurs and pros have the events and weights listed beforehand. On the amateur website, NAS, they list all the contests for the upcoming season, who to contact, entry forms with events and weights, etc. Most of the Pro-Am shows do the same. I assume at the top Pro level(TV version) they do the same. Some guys may not have access to the equipment that will be used at the shows so they don't do as well. Some gym lifts translate well into strongman events and some don't. Hope this helps. D.J.

I have promoted strongman contests for about 6 years now,I usually try and put as much event info on the entry as possible to avoid so many questions. Sometimes events change and we try to get a mass mailing out to the guys about the changes. I even sell strongman equipment so that when people compete at my contest they knew what the event is going to be like. I was good friends with a guy that competed at WSM, and he said that Mariusz Pudzianowski or Poland actually had a team of guys that went to the place worlds were to be held and took all kinds of notes on the region(temp, humidity, food) and then they replicate everything as close as possible to that for training. Seems like alot for only 35-40,000 in winnings. I hope this helps too.
