Change of plans!!!
I apologize for the false alarm. My wife changed my mind. When I first mentioned it to her, she said that it was up to me and that she would support any decision I made. Well, I was playing with my soon-to-be 2yo today when my wife said "get out". My reply was a smoooooth "what?". She replied that everything that I do is for them and there was no way she was going to be part of the reason that I gave up the only thing that I do for me. I started to protest but realized I was outnumbered. It was wife against one. You married guys will understand that.
Sunday 9/2/7
Squat 135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 7 315 x 3 365 x 10 365 x 10
Bench 135 x 10 135 x 5 205 x 8...All reps paused from here 235 x 6 255 x 4 275 x 3 285 x 2 295 x 1 255 x 12 <---Not paused.
Deadlift Done with 35lb plates as explosively as possible 185 x 10 255 x 10 305 x 10 345 x 10 375 x 8 415 x 6
Outstanding workout. I could barely walk out of the gym.

Great work out.

Thank you gentlemen. Yes, outstanding wife.
As most of you noticed, I am trying to increase my volume now and then taper it back off as I up the weight again. Volume sucks so it must be good for something.

So when I read you were hanging up the belt for a while, it was "The thrill is gone." When I read this log it changed to "The grill is on" cuz I was so excited I thought I might cook a pig. :') GREAT news 3Speed! And I completely understand and empathize with the "outnumbered" thing. Roger that post about volume ^^^^^ 365x10? TWO SETS? ?? Icy hot! God Bless!

Sunday 9/9/7
No trip to the gym this weekend. Way too much volume this weekend.
I have been w/o water in my house for 2 weeks due to my well going dry. I finally got a new well drilled on Friday. I have spent the entire weekend moving my pump, tank, water softener and filters as well as digging a new trench for the new water and electrical lines. The ground is so hard that it is difficult to cut thru with a shovel and so dry that I can't pick it up with post hole diggers so I am using the post hole diggers to cut thru and using the shovel to clear the dirt out. It's a heck of a workout.
Edit: 7:25PM....water in my house. I have blisters where I didn't know I had places. Trying to type this is tough because my hands don't want to work right. I think I'll take it easy and just run a marathon next week.

There are few exercises that can equal moving dirt. In this heat I know you must be tapped. Sorry to hear your well went kaput. Never something one can plan for.

Life as a homeowner - an unplanned back breaking workout just around the corner. Have a couple glasses of water and sleep well.

Sleep well I did!!
Dry wells are a common problem here lately. That is why it took 2 weeks to get a new one drilled and I was fortunate to get it in 2 weeks. I was quoted as much as 8 weeks. The drought is causing problems here because all of the wells are shallow wells. Around here, the ground is mostly clay from 30-50 feet and you get salt water contamination at around 85-90 feet. The correct well location is critical.

Yikes! Thank the Lord that it worked out! Having water trucked in is a PITA!

Wow, no room for error on that. It's probably still better than city water.

Shovel = workout Posthole diggers = workout Running electrical cable = workout
I think we can empathize somewhat, and call it a Lysimacus Special Workout.
Glad you have water, 3! Gotta quote Lysimacus's tagline: "In all things, give thanks."
God Bless!

It took 3 days after that "workout" before my hands would work right.
Sunday 9/16/07
Squat 135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 7 315 x 4 365 x 2 425 x 8 425 x 8
Bench 135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 5 275 x 2 315 x 1 330 x 3 330 x 3
Deadlift...used 35lb plates
185 x 10 255 x 10 325 x 10 375 x 8 425 x 6
Good workout. Gonna have to drop some volume soon.

Judging by the BP & DL I'd say the hands are working real good now.

I'd second that!
3speed, do you train pauses on every rep, soft-touch, or TNG?

Great gosh at the reps! Mighty fine, 3Speed, mighty fine! 425x2x8 is ridiculous!
That's one heavily modified Buckeye you got there! How do you like the 2x3s to finish?
God Bless!

Doug: I only jumped up to the 2 heavy triples because everything felt very light. It started out a buckeye but turned into just a pyramid because everything was flying up. I think the standard buckeye takes too much of a toll with all the reps to add heavy triples at the end.
Toolpod: When I stick with the Buckeye, everything after the second weight is done with a full pause. This week, I made the 1st and 3rd reps of each set at 330 a full pause. I used to have a hard sticking point about 3 inches off my chest. Working pauses has overcome that sticking point. When this stops working, I'll probably do some T&G and even throw in a few negatives, but I think I've found me a good horse for now.

Sunday 9/23/7
Squat 135 x 10 135 x 5 225 x 7 315 x 3 365 x 2 425 x 1 475 x 1 500 x 1 525 x 1 475 x 1 525 x 1 525 x 1 525 x 1 All 3 reps @ 525 were done in a 2 minute span.
Bench 135 x 8 135 x 4 205 x 4 255 x 2 295 x 1 305 x 1 335 x 1 355 x 1
Deadlift 135 x 5 225 x 4 315 x 4 405 x 1 475 x 1 525 x 1 535 x 1 535 x 1 535 x 1
Best workout of my life. The squats went up so easily that I wanted soooooo badly to slap another quarter on each side but I stuck with the plan. I also had to stick to my plan on deads. That was the easiest I have ever pulled that kind of weight. All but one serious injury I've suffered came on days like this when I got stupid.
A pesonal note: I thought when I sarted lifting again 4 years ago that my time was limited. I figured I had maybe 3 years left in which I could make progress. My body continues to amaze me and for that I am truly thankful. So far, this has been the best training year of my life.

That's just insane volume in a single day. Us mere mortals take a few weeks to equal that . Awe inspiring doesn't do it justice. Seriously, you are a machine...........................
