Monday 7/9/07
age = 30 bodyweight = 280
All reps were paused.
135x3 135x3 225x3 315x1 345x1 360x1 375x1 390x1 405x1 420x1 435x1
(435 was really tough. I felt my butt come up on 435 also, so it probably would not have passed. I'm trying to get used to benching flat-footed. Now that the rule has been postponed, I can't decide whether to go flat-footed or up on my toes for the August 11 meet. I'll probably just stick with flat-footed since I've already started with it and I plan on doing more meets after November 1 anyway.)
Incline Dumbells: 2x8 Dips: 2x8 Tricep Pressdowns: 2x10

Nice numbers to start the ole log off on. There are some big pressers here and looks like you just joined them.

Thank you. I have never lifted in a raw meet. I've only lifted in the WABDL. I've become a little fed up with dealing with the bench shirt. Excluding the last two months, most of my training consisted of board presses, floor presses, and using chains. I did not do a whole lot of full range stuff. I only put on the shirt though twice before a meet, so all my training was basically without it. About two months ago I decided to start training for RAW meets and I have been loving it. With all the type of training I had been doing, my middle and lockout portions of the bench are ok, but as you would imagine, my weak point is off the chest. But after doing paused, full range training for two months, I'm feeling much stonger off the chest. On Thursdays, I've also been doing some illegal wide benching, which is seeming to help also.
I 'm glad I've made the decision to hang up the bench shirt and go RAW. I'm enjoying this type of training much more!

MN, stay on the toes until AFTER the meet. 4 months is more conducive than a few weeks.
Those nasty wides are definitely going to help! Of course, looking at your bench numbers, doesn't look like I have much advice to offer you. 435, my butt comes up on the squat, but that's about it...... NICE workout!
God Bless!

Thursday 7/12/07
My close-grip is a thumb length away from smooth part of bar. I would like to go closer, but my left elbow has problems when I do. My illegal wide-grip is about a little less than thumb length from rings. My competition grip, which I use on Mondays, is middle finger on ring.
Every rep was paused on all close-grip and illegal wide-grip.
close-grip: 135x3 illegal wide-grip: 135x3
close-grip: 225x5, 285x5, 315x5, 345x5, 375x3
illegal wide-grip: 275x5, 305x5, 335x5
dips: 2x8 rear delt machine: 2x8

Here's one mod I made to help my aging elbows. On the CGBP, I use a grip similar to yours, but I bring my elbows tucked to my sides like a Dicks press but not as high up on the chest/neck/area as Dicks actually did. It still hits the tris pretty good, not as good as a true Dicks or skullcrusher or what have you, but better than nothing. I'm really really succeptible to aggravated elbows so I have to be really careful too.
You by far exceed the weight I use, though. Doubt I can offer you TOO much advice.
God Bless!

Todays bench workout video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTW4gQD5KDAAll reps were paused as you can see. The video contains the following sets: 285x5 315x5 345x5 375x5 405x3 I also did 135x5 135x5 225x5 at the start of the workout, but these sets I did not get on video.
