I am trying the Buckeye routing for this training cycle. The last time that I did it, I overtrained quickly so this time I have tweaked it a bit for my slower recovery time. I need to know what you guys think. Wed- Bench asst- close grips, lateral raises, one other tri exercise. This week, did buckeye for 350 on bench and all went well. Saturday week one- Stiff legged deadlift- buckeye protocol for 440, plus lats, biceps and weighted situps-this week 200x 15 reps. Saturday week two- Squat. Going to start the buckeye routine at 470 max. lats, biceps, weighted situps. This makes a routing comprised of bench every week; stiff legged deads every 14 days and squats every 14 days. Stiff legged deads work better for my dead. Coming in Squat is 465 bench 345 dead 500@ 198 Goals are Squat 510 bench 365 and dead 525 at 198 or 220.

I have never done the buckeye for the DL and Squat but I think that's a smart approach. For me 3 weeks is tops on the buckeye bench. I would recommend you plan for a deload if you go buckeye every week on the bench.

Sometime deloading, when your really beat can mean taking a week off. Probably some light 65% work and tone down the overall volume or drop your main lift and just do accessory work. There's lots of ways to approach this. But if you feel fine keep going after it. You will be the first person to know when it's time to back off.
