Hello,I Coach HS football and I really like the bigger Faster Stronger program.I really like the sets/reps system it employs. The bench, squat, and deadlift are core lifts for them.I am starting to compete in 40-44 Masters Raw and would like to know if any one uses the BFS set/rep system? It basically involves weekly sets that change each week and you try to break single rep,rep sets and total records. There is a short version and a long version.I will probably try and go the BFS direction because I know it and it is flexible and less wear and tear on the body.It is a 3 day a week plan. Thanks for any input or questions---gridironcoach

I'm not familiar with the program. Do you have a link to it?

hello, coach.I've used this program and done really good with it.I modified it to suit my needs.I basically use the rep scheme for my core lifts.I also don't lift upper with lower body.I try to rotate upper and lower body days.I also do more sets for auxillary exercises but I keep the number exercises down.I also use more upper back exercises than prgram calls for.I think after 8 to 12 wks you should deload for a week or two w/ reps of 10 or take the time off to heal up.If you take the time off a week should be enough and start with the BFS rep scheme again. You should feel stronger with that week off and be ready to hit those 3x3's again.

Hello, sorry I didn't respond earlier.I use dumbell rows, pulldowns to the front wide or close, cable rows wide or close and barbell rows.I also do dumbell shrug's or barbell shrugs.I also use a shoulder horn for rotator cuff.I also do rear lateral raises.I don't use all these exercises in the same workout.example if I do heavy Bench I do only one heavey row exercise but I do a rear shoulder exercise. On a lighter chest day I use a pulldown with a superset with a cable rows.I do shoulder shrugs with legs.I hope this helps.
