Does anyone know how much protein the body can take in at one time? I'm sure this varies on the individual.

According to Dr. Kleiner from Power Eating, you should consume about 0.5 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight for each meal. So a 198 lb man would consume a meal consisting of 45 grams of protein and a 330 lb man would consume a meal consisting of 75 grams of protein. 75 grams seems like a lot to me but I guess it's nothing for a guy weighing 330 lbs.

Just be sure to go by the following rule: 0.8 grams/kilogram body weight for normal person 1.2-1.8 grams/kilogram body weight for athlete in high intensity training

I take in 46 grams right after my work-out because I feel like my body can absorb more after intense work. At other times I take no more then 25 grams per meal. I eat about 7-8 times a day.

I've found for me it's much more advantageous to just eat balanced. Moderate amounts of fruits, veggies, carbs, fats, protein. I no longer measure my protein although I figure it's around 115-125 grams per day. Now, I'm a 181 so I don't take in more than 2000 cals on a non-cheat day and doing it this way my lifting is better than ever. I knowthat goes against all the rage, however, I used to push the protein hard - 275 grams a days, and I was weaker then and looked aweful. My muscles are fuller and leaner than ever and I'm moving more weight this time around.
Go figure?? I bet it depends on the person. Somehow I think my body responds better to a well balanced diet and maximizes what protein I do get whilst in the past I was, literally, pissing away 1/2 of it anyhow.
(Of course, it's quite possible I was simply over-training back then as well. That could be all the difference)

This can be debated forever.Ive always found 30-40 is a safe bet.But obviously every individual will assimilate at different rates. And of course bigger guys will need a bit more.Ive always figured that Id rather take in more than less.Im barely 200lbs (this will change),so 40 seems like a decent number for me.
