Has Anyone Ever Tried the Coan DL Routine? www.powerpage.net/coanphildead.html I've been searching high and low for a decent routine that doesn't involve doing 8 and 10 reps. I am considering trying it out. Any opinions?

Sorry, rick I see you recently asked about this without to much feedback. Did you use it? It doesn't seem totally crazy for a "jacked up" program.

I ran this routine twice when I was younger and got good results both times. The only change I made was to base the routine off of my current - not projected - max. The one thing I remember most about this routine was how much it beat up my hands - a tremendous amount of pulling in this routine.

I have never used this routine, but was curious about it. I think I would hate the assistance circuit.
I have always like the looks of this cycle by Simmons.
Deadlift Week one: 70% 15 sets of 1 one min rest/sets Week two: 75% 12 sets of 1 one min rest/sets Week three: 80% 8-10 sets of 1 - 1.5 min rest/sets Week four: 85% 4-6 sets of 1 1.5 - 2 min rest/sets Week five: 90% 1-3 singles of 1 - 2 min rest/set Week six: de load or rest Week seven: new max at contest or gym or recycle with 70%

I thought I replied to this a while back, but I don't see my reply. Anyways - I used the Coan routine with good success. However, I did customize the assistance work. Instead of doing good morings I did weighted back raises, and I cut the over-all assistance volume in half. Doing this routine gave me a 600 DL - and I never DL with a belt - not in training nor in the meet I was in. The Coan routine is plenty tough, but it will give you an incredible back and improve your deadlifts.
