Hey everyone just wanted to introduce myself. I am getting ready to do my first meet on July 25 at greenridge. I hope to meet some of you out there. I also have a question, I entered in the 165 weight class, does that mean like 149 to 165 or 165 to 180. Thanks and hope to see you all at the meet. I will also probably be doing another in sept at zion crossroad.

The weight class you enter is the maximum you can weigh....so yes, 165 would be from there to the next lowest eight class

I am from roanoke va, and I have been lifting off and on for the last 5 years. I am 31 years old and since I started powerlifting I enjoy the challenge and strategy of lifting heavy weight but maintaining being healthy. I am still learning the ropes but I enjoy it.

Are u allowed to where sbd knee sleeves for squatting, also u can't take creatine. I was looking over rules and seen that. Maybe it's older rules that I am looking.

To my knowledge, there's not a reputable fed in the world that doesn't allow you to wear knee sleeves, including anything from the bargain-basement neoprene types you find at the local sporting good store to the $100 per-pair SBD's your referring to. I just recently started training with SBD sleeves myself fwiw, and if I find a Fed in the future that has a problem with them, that's a Fed I personally wont lift in. They make my knee feel a lot better and also help my form, especially descending into the hole. BTW - They are legal in the IPF which is arguably the strictest most meticulous and highly respected Fed in the world, so there's that too. lol As for creatine, I had been taking that stuff for a while and although I stopped taking it about 2-3 months ago, I did take it up to and through the only RAW/ADAU meet I've ever competed in (back in 2012). They drug tested me at that meet, and I tested clean, so the rule you're looking at might in fact be an old one. -Ryan

I wrote the rules for the 100% RAW drug program. There was never any mention in the rules about creatine. It occurs naturally in red meat (muscle). ryan 100% RAW does not allow any kind of knee sleeves or wraps.

Is that like an "always has, and never will"? I dont think there are too many 100% RAW meets within driving distance of where I live nowadays anyway, but man I have come to love these things and am not sure I'd wanna squat without them anymore. I mean, I've only been squatting in sleeves now for like the last maybe 5-6 weeks, but my knee feels 100% better than it used to so I just dont think i'd be able to give that up. That really is a shame.

It's an 'always was' thing. As far as 'always will be' goes, who knows. The fed didn't allow wrist wraps for years but that changed. I can see the possibility of at least knee sleeves in the future but only if there is enough of a ground swell movement of lifters asking for them.

I didn't realize that until Woody said so above.
