Was curious as to how you all go about this. Personally I like to do some with my sumo training from time to time and devote it to a accessory day aka my gymnastics/jumping workout. Thoughts?

Watch some old shotput videos from Werner Gunthor;I'm unsure of the board ethics on posting links but a series of videos detailing his training will appear in fastidious detail on Youtube.Come to think of it,shotputters period starch most strength athletes when it comes to rate of force development.
If you want my empirical two cents, here they are:
1.)As Gus Rethwisch would do,he'd train with heavier impliments than used in strongman competition, like walking with an 800-pound refrigerator for a 400-pound carrying event. The point here is:if it feels lighter, you can move it faster if plyometric fitness/acceleration isn't the main issue.
2.)Louie Simmons uses methods involving foam blocks for the lift, and you can dampen the stretch reflex to work the sports-specific musculature with various methods, like jumping in sand to lessen the stretch reflex.
3.)Farmer's walks and glute bridging always had the most carryover for running/jumping for me,cessation of these two things resulted in more laborious jogging.
4.)Don't think of all problems as nails just because you have a hammer, jump more!
5.)Don't be afraid to load up of calf raises as they help complete the jump.
