Hello everyone. Im new too this powerlifting stuff and i want too give it a go. Now ive been resurching and going thru reviews and as far as i could find well i found these opcions but i wanted too know what you guys think about them.
1.Destroy the opposition by jamie Lewis. 2.The Texas Method. 3.Tuchscherer’s Reactive Training Systems. 4.Candito 6 Week strength program.
Oh and one last thing i study sports and we do 3 times a week swimming and at the end of the year we have too be able too do 1000Meters in a given time. And we normaly do running like 5 km and sprints of 100 too 400Meters and i would like a routine that would get me HELLA STRONG AND FAST too be able too transfer all that power from the lifts and make it a lot easier my day too day sport activity in class. If this is possible what would you guys recomeand ?
Thanks you.
What do you guys think about those ones and im an intemediate lifter. P.S Im natural and not wanting too go on gear nor have been on.
thanks.

You have come to a powerlifting site for help with swimming and running. We have several people here who are very knowledgeable about lifting but I don't think anybody here can provide much help with swimming or running. Those exercises are not very compatible with powerlifting.
My best guess would be - to take liberal license with a Russian quote from the 80s - If you want to swim better, swim more and if you want to run better, run more.

I think 3 Speed answered that in the second half of his response. If you want to run faster, run. Does a strong squat equate to a fast runner? No. I have a 500lb squat and I’m neither fast nor do I have endurance when it comes to running, why? I don’t train to run.

5k's I can't help you with. Different end of the spectrum.
However, w/ the sprinting; my training partner was a state champion and AAU hurdler and he swore higher rep squats and deadlifting made him faster.
Personally, I believe pushing a heavy weight will make your faster - aka: Prowler sled. Overall, squatting of some sort will make the legs stronger. But as w/ all sports, you need excellent technique. Focus on making your improvements there - gaining strength is only part of the equation and less important than technique to a degree. Your strength only really comes out in performance if your technique is perfect. Only then will you realize your strength to its fullest.
Eat good whole food and rest often.

Glad you are trying it. I see so many guys who could compete and should compete but don't. These days PL routines have become a bit fancy in my opinion. I have been doing this a while and still go back to the old timers for good sound advice
Check out Ed Coan or Vince Lanola ( sorry for the spelling). Welcome to the sport. As for swimming, I swim in the ocean now and again, it won't help with power, but it will help with your flexibility. For me, I hate swimming cause it's hard. Lift Now, Rest Later.
