I will be lifting in an American Challenge in mid June and am trying to figure out my last 2 weeks' workouts. I was thinking for 2 weeks out to do a long workout where I do openers on all three lifts and anticipated second attempts on squat & bench. One week out I am looking at lighter than de-load weight for squat and bench and nothing for deadlift. Since making weight will not be an issue I will do a little cardio week 2 and none the last week. Other than the above just stretching and foam rolling and very light assistance exercises.
This is only my second full power meet after a 30 year hiatus so any thoughts/pointers/suggestions/etc will be greatly appreciated.

I have competed in roughly 4 or 5 meets at this point, and I took the entire week off prior to each meet except for the last meet where I didn't walk inside a gym for 10 days prior to that meet.
While I have a lot to learn and accomplish still, each meet my numbers seem to improve and my last meet was my best yet. Can I attribute any success to doing nothing for a week to 10 days just prior to the meet? Probably not, but that time off certainly doesn't seem to be hurting me either.
That's just $.02 coming from one lifter, and we all know that there are millions of ways to skin the proverbial cat in this sport.

I’m with Ryan 100%. I don’t go into the gym 6 day before a meet. The week before that I normally work up to my opener plus a little but not quite to my second attempt. And I normally take the week after off to recover. Meet tend to kicks my butt.

oldiron, I have tried taking 2 weeks completely off before a meet with good results. I have done 1 week with good results and I have done a couple of triples at 40-50% early in the week of the meet with good results. I almost never work up to even an opener in the gym and always surprise myself at meets. The only non-negotiable rules I have about meet prep are that my last "heavy" lifts are taken at least 2 weeks out and I don't touch anything even resembling a deadlift within 2 weeks of the meet.
I know you dont have time for it now, but my suggestion would be to plan a couple of mock meets in the gym and experiment with different approaches. See what works for you.
Just remember that with meet prep, you have already done the work that counts. You really can't get much stronger in the last few weeks, but you can allow yourself to recover from your regular training schedule and get a little stronger in the process.
Good luck with your meet.
