Does anyone have a Texas Deadlift Bar? I just got a new one right outa the box. I've only had three training sessions with it, but weights seem heavy as Hades. Im thinking this bar take a bit of breaking in before it start getting it's typical "wrip". It seems very stiff, and Im guess with the long bar lenght and stiffness, this is why weight just seem heavier then normal...............any thoughts, Ill except maybe Im just getting old,ha.

They have one where I train and the trick as I understand it is that you have to pull the slack out of bar before you actually start lifting it. I’m a slow puller so I really whip any way. I just like the bar because it is smaller and I can really lock onto it.

I’m not an expert but I think they are supposed to be whippy out of the box. Few I’ve lifted with were.

I have a Capps Texas Deadlift Bar. My first question for you concerns the bar. There are a lot of copy cat "Texas Deadlift Bars" out there. The Capps bar has an outline of the state of Texas on the end of it. Also you have different flavors of the Capps Texas bars. There is the Texas Power Bar, Texas Squat Bar and the Texas Deadlift Bar. The Capps Texas Deadlift Bar does have a lot of whip in it but as Daniel stated the trick is pulling the slack out before you really yank. I've heard claims that the bar will give you 30 plus pounds on your Deadlift. I would say it gives you a definite 20 plus pounds. We used it at our meet and almost every lifter there got PR's and there were several state records broken. We actually don't use it much for training. We use a thicker, stiffer bar for training (for grip strength). We'll use it a couple of weeks out from the meet just to get the feel of the bar. I also have the Texas Power Bar and I really like it. The knurling on the both bars is incredible. It will take skin off, guaranteed. I say all this to say this. I've been to meets where they claim to use the Texas Deadlift bar. It may have been a deadlift bar but it wasn't a Capps. There is a big difference. Good Luck!

I don't want to hijack this thread, but... I have a Texas power bar that I use for everything and was considering either the tpb dealift bar or the okie deadlift bar. Any difference big between the two?

And it's the deadlift lift bar, I've had the power bar for several years now, I don't think I need too tell you the difference between the two. I used again this week, and finally felt better this time around. I think my timing was just thrown off and for me timing is everything.
