Just got this today.
Lots of programs doesn't even begin to describe this book. Lots of new things based on 531 and some not even close.
I plan on trying the Singles,Speed,Size template first. I also like the looks of the SVR program.
I have to say, this one blows away the rest of his books. Lots of different stuff for anyone. Well worth the $.
I've always been a fan of Wendler's approach to training. There's a good 5 years worth of training variety in this book. It might be a bit overwhelming on the first leaf thru, but pick one or two that seem "like you" and do them.

Ya I got it last week, and I'm on my 3rd time through. There is a lot of infromation, I'm actually looking at jokers sets, first set last and rule of 50. I may mix it up a little and do different programs for diffrent movements.
But you are right, if you cant find a program you like then didn't read the book.

I loved his first 531 so I brought the next one 531 Powerlifting, very disappointed, same dam book for the most part.. He's not sneaking more $$ outa my pocket, just switching up the title and adding two pages. That's a joke, but I'd guess not too far off.

@ Rosario I didn't buy the first book. I did buy the 531 Powerlifting book and was really disappointed with it. I decided I wouldn't waste my time or money on any more of his books. I was given a copy of Beyond 531 as a gift and I was pleasantly surprised at the book. Jim fixed many of what I viewed as problems with the 5/3/1/ system and lays out several different plans of attack. I'm not trying to talk you into buying it, but I believe anyone but the most advanced lifter could find something in it that he could at least incorporate into his training plan.

The reality is - 531 in its original state is perfect IMO. For most lifters tho, you need to tailor it to your needs and that is what Beyond 531 does - it gives you direction and options based on your needs. There is LITERALLY about 5 years worth of training options in it. I know you ran 531 before and I believe you would be very pleased w/ this book.
