Somewhat a log. I have started doing rack press. With my arms only and no lats. A deviation from my bench form. We can call it a dead press since we can skip the lowering part. Like deadlift hehe Me 325 youtu.be/0UgfUvidU04Does anyone want to compete with me on dead press. It's good way to check my arm strength against other people. I don't think anyone at my gym wants to play this.

So, it looks like a dead-stop pin press. By "no lats", you mean flat-back/no arch right?

I don't think anyone at my gym wants to play this. Ha, ya because it hard as balls! Mike T. had these in my programming a few times, he called them Pin Press in this case (From Chest) and there an ego check for sure. The only difference is he had me starting from the top not the bottom with the movement. Ill play the game, let me see when I can seek that movement into the program this week.

You can arch. The no lats was just for me. It is gonna take time to adjust to do the dead press. I struggled keeping the bar going up straight.

You got that right! I've done these before, mostly as a lockout where I do the last 5 inches of ROM...you get fantastic lrverages here.
the other way I have done it, is doing the *middle* 5 inches of ROM, where you sandwich the bar between two sets of pins in the rack. You press off the bottom pin, drive into the top one and push into it hard for a few seconds before dropping.

This is prolly just gonna happen to me but. I woke up this morning, my lower back and glutes were sore. Haven't even done back yet. Deadlift today and my warmups felt heavier then usual. Had hard time moving my hips. Couldn't finish my mm set.
I watched my rack press video and notice I can't touch the ground with feet. Now that I think about it. I oddly did flexed my butt during all my rack reps yesterday. Forgot that bench is an inch higher then the other benches.
Short people problems /sigh

Actually, if you are setting up correctly, your lower back and glutes should get worked during bench. Although generally lower back is a function of how hard you are arching...this was flat back for you, but b/c the bench was a little tall it pushed you into a bit of an arch.
