Just a general, hopefully fun question here, did you pick your first meet based on the quality of the federation or proximity of the event? And, how much does that play into you choose of events now?

Chose mine based on coach at the times federation (USAPL). That was March 2011 and was a single ply meet and it sucked for me (didn't like the experience) so I've been a raw guy ever since.

I chose based on proximity, then and now. Second would be cost.

My first meet was a Korean Armed Forces meet - definitely picked based on location.

In the beginning it was proximity. Then I wanted more competitive ventures. I still want those, but mostly, I want to have a good time. I'm a social guy, but I've been locked away for four years in college with three young kids and a wife attending nursing school...it is all soon coming to a head and I'll be allowed to join the outside world again!
