Frankenstein - the morphing together of bits and pieces of other things in order to create a monster
Every lifter at some point creates this monster. Programs only work for so long. There have always been principles. It's applying those principles to your training over a period of time.
While structure and organization is important, most programs don't allow you to push when you need to push.
I believe programs work well in order to help the beginner get an idea of what works and what doesn't.
Principles however supersede any program and scientific approach. I never look at where I am in 2 months or 6 months - but yearly.
We know strength training is a marathon and not a sprint. That is why I follow principles and would advise others to follow principles rather than programs - that is if you've powerlifted for at least two years.
Once you figure out the principles you want to keep in your training, apply them as needed. Then you have adopted a philosophy of training that works for you.
I know this may sound generalized, but those who have been powerlifting for a while will know exactly what I'm talking about.
