I know osu, uses this and I purchased one and tried it for the first time...When I benched with it I used it for pausing at the bottom and pushing with compensatory acceleration, used more weight than normal and was able to focus on my push speed. I found it most useful though on my JM and nosebreakers, I centered my elbows in the sleeve's and what the slingshot allowed me to do was use a closer grip and keep my elbows up and from flaring out as I lowered the weight, this helped keep the focus on my triceps...Dont know what kind of carry-over it will have, but I'll continue to use it for awhile...

It's a great tool. It does teach you to push hard from the chest and does allow SAFE overload on the shoulders to a certain point - most certainly overload on the triceps.
I believe all raw guys should use it or bands/chains to overload the top just to work the triceps heavier than w/ straight weight. Pushdowns and extensions only go so far.
Not a fan of any type of lockout or board/floor press since it doesn't really allow a full range of motion.
The one movement that helps me the most out of the bottom is doing a normal bench press pushing to midway but not to full lockout as to keep pressure on the delts/pecs - also allows the elbows to rest a little as well. This has helped the "pop" off my chest more than anything.

Santa may be bringing me one. Any videos on how to use for a raw lifter?

I was using 531 so I replaced the military press day w/ a slingshot day. Just bench normal using it. There's no special technique.

Have have had the red slingshot for a long time now, too the point where it's closer to his new blue one, and I've had the black one for maybe a year. To be honest I havn't used the black one all that much in training, but the red one I've sprinkled it just about everywhere. First thing I've seen is take it slow, don't be a slingshot hero right outa the box. Just because your tricpets can handle the overload doesn't mean the rest of you can, it can only "protect" your shoulders so much.
I don't like to mess with my grip, whatever my "normal" grip is, that's what I use at the time for the slingshot. I like the use the slingshot to replace with chains, or bands. I always use the slingshot after working up to the plan of the day raw. Meaning if the plan is Slingshot x4@9, Im working up to x4@9 raw before the slingshot comes out of the bag. Like bands and chains I typically don't use for more than 3-4 wk waves.
