I’ve been competing for five years now and I still get butterflies the morning before my event. And they don’t go away until after my first lift.

For me, I try to approach it with the mind-set that its a workout...have a plan, execute the plan

It actually very cool if you can get you friends to go, I’ve even got several to compete.

Opposite for me. I want no one I know to be present when I'm competing. I didn't even let my parents attend my wrestling competitions in high school. Only called them for the award ceremony on those rare occasions when I placed.
I like individual events and when friends or family are there, it feels like a team competition with me alone possibly letting them all down. : )
